Job Title: SEN Teacher Location: Options Higford School, Shifnal, Shropshire, TF11 9ET Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8:30am–4:00pm Salary: Up to £44,310 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata) Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only Start: November 2026 UK applicants only – no sponsorship available About the role We're looking for a passionate SEN Teacher to join our specialist education team, helping students with additional needs build confidence, overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. You'll deliver engaging, personalised learning tailored to individual strengths, needs and EHCP outcomes, creating a positive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. Working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you'll support students to develop academically, socially and emotionally while preparing them for future success. Every achievement matters, and every day brings the opportunity to change a life. What you will be doing Deliver engaging, creative and differentiated lessons that meet individual learning needs. Adapt teaching approaches to support students' communication, sensory, emotional and academic development. Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment where students feel safe, valued and motivated to learn. Lead and support classroom staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for students. Monitor progress, review EHCP outcomes and implement personalised learning plans. Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families and external professionals. Promote independence, communication, positive behaviour and preparation for adulthood skills. Safeguard students and contribute to a culture of high expectations, care and support. What you will bring A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification). Passionate about supporting students with SEND to achieve their potential. Committed to delivering personalised, inclusive and high-quality education. Creative, adaptable and able to tailor learning to a wide range of needs. A confident classroom practitioner with strong leadership and relationship-building skills. An excellent communicator who works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Committed to continuous professional development and improving outcomes for students. UK driving licence required. About the School Options Higford is an independent specialist day school for autistic children and young people aged 5–19 who may also have other associated behavioural needs. Set within 28 acres of Shropshire countryside, the school provides a calm, structured and nurturing environment. Students learn within small class groups of up to five, supported by high levels of skilled staff. Our curriculum is personalised through four pathways: Engage – sensory engagement, interaction, communication, regulation and early cognition. Explore – early communication, literacy, numeracy and wider-world learning through structured exploration. Apply – applying and generalising knowledge and skills through a more structured subject learning and community access. Future – preparation for life, independence, employability, life skills and community participation. Learning is linked closely to students’ EHCP outcomes and supported by an in-house clinical team.
