OTOBO has existed since 2019, while the code base has been proven for over 20 years. It solves real problems and helps users manage their daily workload.

We are further developing the standard. And solutions for concrete questions from a wide variety of areas – agile, practical, and sustainable. With clean code that integrates seamlessly into the overall project and is usable for everyone.

Some examples of the tasks that await you:

• You develop solutions that fit – for municipalities or universities, mechanical engineers, hospitals, the CERTs of DAX companies
• You implement features so that they meet the concrete project requirements – and as part of the generalist framework, also provide added value to other users
• In doing so, you rely on long-term solutions, open standards, and protocols
• You ensure that our Perl code hums like a happy camel – reliable, stable, and with perfectly placed humps (sub and return, of course)
• Or you use JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, and CSS to give OTOBO a frontend that is worthy of its inner values
• You fix issues reported by users, check, and take over Pull Requests from partners and the community

What you should bring:

• Your educational background is secondary to us. Much more important: very good knowledge in Perl programming or other scripting languages such as JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, and CSS
• You are passionate about Open Source – and you enjoy exploring the possibilities it offers
• You like complex questions and are eager to immerse yourself in a wide variety of projects
• You feel confident in English – our Dev team is international
• You are a true team player and enjoy working with others
• You are a professional at working alone, but for a good exchange, you also let yourself be lured out of your coding cave occasionally
• You don't just find solutions, you understand the cause – and ensure that problems do not occur twice

How do you work with us?

• Here you have the rare chance to work in a real Open Source project: As maintainers, we stand behind OTOBO, continue to develop the Open Source platform, and offer business services for it.
• This is important to us: OTOBO is 100% license-free and Open Source and should remain so.
• You develop feature add-ons for concrete customer projects – agile and efficient. If you like, also with customer contact. Often in such a way that they migrate into the standard afterwards.
• You find sustainable solutions that integrate into the existing codebase and are so flexible that they work in different scenarios.
• You work in an owner-managed company with stable financing. No start-up hype. No ambitions to sell to the highest bidder in two years. In exchange with the community all over the world.
• We work distributed – part of the team is regularly in the office, part works largely remote (in Germany, Ireland, Portugal). We are in daily exchange via our chat platform Element and the video platform BigBlueButton. In the weekly team call, we exchange information about ongoing projects across OTOBO.
• How you organize your work in detail is up to you.
• You record your working hours independently.
• About 4 times a year, we all meet live at the farm by the pond or at another beautiful location – good team spirit is important to us.
