Job Summary
Join our client delivery team as a Software Engineer embedded in a major regional bank. You will ensure software reliability, troubleshoot complex incidents, optimize application performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance monitoring systems.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot Level 2 technical issues by analyzing root causes of complex software incidents and resolving code and environment-level tickets to maintain system stability
- Execute hands-on technical support during End-of-Day (EOD) batch runs by applying fixes and performance improvements
- Collaborate with service automation and Level 3 engineering teams to develop and implement advanced application monitoring tools, dashboards, and automated alerts
- Coordinate with incident managers, infrastructure teams, and database administrators to drive rapid resolution of major operational incidents and support upcoming change implementations
Required competencies and certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum 5 years of professional IT experience in software engineering, technical solution delivery, or application support within banking and financial services
- Proficient in OS/400 (IBM i) systems architecture
- Skilled in programming languages RPG and COBOL
- Knowledge of SDLC and ITIL frameworks
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience or exposure to core banking platforms such as Silverlake
- Familiarity with enterprise middleware/utilities including MQ, Connect Direct, and Control-M
- Experience with monitoring and log analytics tools such as Splunk, Geneos, Grafana, ElasticSearch, and Ansible
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with effective written and verbal communication in English
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and provide occasional support during wee hours or weekends
