Shift Operations Leader

We are partnering with an oil, chemicals and gas company on Jurong Island in a search for an Operations Leader to head a shift operations team, ensuring every day-to-day activity on site is carried out safely and smoothly, and to act as the site's emergency lead outside office hours. Responsibilities Lead a shift team of more than 10 technicians, managing manpower administration and planning, workflow scheduling and inter-departmental communication so that operations run safely, smoothly and efficiently. Act as Site Main Controller (SMC) for emergencies occurring after office hours until the Operations Manager arrives on site, and direct the team on process control, process recovery and emergency response. Head investigations, troubleshooting and problem solving for incidents and abnormal observations, and initiate continuous improvement programmes across operations. Own and maintain the inventory management system, and drive a reduction in ship-shore variance. Coordinate daily Permit-to-Work (PTW) activities and support maintenance, in-service and out-of-service inspections, plant turnarounds and planned maintenance. Support the commissioning of new and existing facilities before handover to the operations team, and support new projects, including contractor management and communication. Prepare for and manage all audits, including customer, ISO, regulatory and safety audits as well as internal operational assessments. Enforce SHEQ and company operating standards across the operations team, contractors and third parties, and uphold compliance with local legislation and organisational requirements. Carry out duties as a trained Working at Height supervisor and Permit-to-Work approver. Run effective shift briefings that relay key management objectives on time, and ensure all shift members complete their mandatory training. Manage relationships with internal and external customers, addressing enquiries, concerns and complaints, managing expectations, delivering on requirements on time and taking part in operations reviews. Train, coach and mentor technicians and contractors in operational competency and performance improvement, and maintain team discipline. Conduct staff performance reviews and appraisals, complete competency assessments and follow through on closing identified gaps. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) trainer in the internal technical training programme, and assist with talent and succession planning. Build a cohesive and motivated team, leading it positively through changes in company direction. Requirements  Degree in Chemical Process Technology 

At least 5-10 years of relevant operations experience in a chemical industry with 3 years in a supervisory role 

Strong practical knowledge of site processes and operations. 

Deep understanding of product handling, operational equipment, and safety management practices. 

Solid expertise in Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards and regulatory compliance. 

Familiarity with relevant legislation, industry codes, and best practices in operational safety. 

Must have process experience, with in-depth knowledge of process control, products and equipment. Able to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts.
