Your tasks

About the role We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on backend development. Proactive, product-minded individuals who are enthusiastic about crafting impactful and scalable software products will thrive at Omnisend. You would join the Audience team that helps ecommerce businesses to make marketing messages personal by providing their customer insights and effective targeting capabilities.

The Audience team is responsible for Contact profiles - 1.4 billion contact profiles across all active stores: identity, properties and the full stream processing of shopping behavior from stores, forms and integrations. That’s up to 20,000+ events per second. Segmentation engine - turns ~10 billion behavioral events a month into always-fresh customer groups. It processes over a billion segment entries and exits every month, so the right customers get the right message at the right moment. Keeping that fast and accurate at our scale is the core engineering challenge of the team. AI and pre-built segments - merchants describe an audience in plain words and get a segment, or start from ready-made segments based on proven e-commerce practices. No marketing expertise needed.

What you’ll do @Omnisend

• Contribute significantly to product development decisions
• Design, develop, and test features
• Resolve technical challenges for seamless system functionality and optimal performance
• Maintain features with effective monitoring, logging, and alerting
• Share best practices with team members.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience (5+ years) implementing and maintaining scalable, highly available, high-load systems
• Customer centricity - putting the customer at the core of all business decisions and actions
• Ideally, experience with Golang or alternatively proficiency in any backend programming language with the willingness to learn Golang
• Experience with React or any equivalent framework with willingness to learn React
• Familiarity with modern software build pipelines and tools
• Proficiency in NoSQL and SQL database, with willingness to learn MongoDB, Bigtable, PostgreSQL.
• Experience with real-time distributed messaging tools, like NSQ, Pub/Sub
• Working experience with any cloud provider (at Omnisend we use Google Cloud Services)
• Experience with event-based architecture
• AI-first engineering. Coding agents are part of how we build. You don’t need to arrive fluent - you do need to want to get there.
