Education:

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.

Work setting:

Relocation costs not covered by employer. Willing to relocate.

Tasks:

• Determine type of glass, frames and material required.
• Measure, mark and cut glass.
• Position and secure panes in frame.
• Prepare tenders and quotations.
• Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products.
• Install door, window and other hardware.
• Instruct apprentices.
• Repair glass doors and other glass structures.
• Supervise other workers.
• Estimate costs and materials.
• Work from man-lift mobile equipment, cranes and other lifting equipment.

Frame fabrication and installation:

• Curtain wall (stock length material).
• Curtain wall (prefabricated material).
• Spandrel panel installations.
• Aluminum framing members.
• Entranceways.

Glass cutting equipment and techniques:

• Cutting wheels.
• Self-lubricating cutters.
• Circular cutters.
• Automatic finger pull machine.
• Cut glass plate manually (straight cuts).
• Cut glass plate free-hand (curved cuts).
• Bend glass.
• Edge glass plates.
• Laminate glass.
• Paint glass.
• Tint glass.

Work conditions and physical capabilities:

• Physically demanding.
• Handling heavy loads.
• Standing for extended periods.
• Bending, crouching, kneeling.

Own tools/equipment:

• Tools.
• Safety equipment/gear.
• Safety glasses/goggles.

Experience:

1 year to less than 2 years.
