Okunriin is a men's self-care brand dedicated to empowering Black men by helping them embrace their self-worth and practice self-love through holistic care. We offer tailored grooming, wellness solutions, and expert guidance through our product range and our clinic, The Okunriin Haven, in Lekki.

The Grooming Atelier is the barbering floor of the Haven. It sits alongside our trichology clinic and our spa, which means the men in your chair are already investing seriously in how they look and feel.

The role

We are hiring a Barber to join the Grooming Atelier.

This is not a high-turnover walk-in shop. Our clients book, they return, and they expect precision. You will have the time to do the work properly, the environment to do it in, and colleagues in trichology and aesthetics you can refer to when a client's scalp or skin needs more than a cut.

If you take real pride in a clean line-up and want to build a loyal book of clients rather than churn through a queue, this will suit you.

What you will do

• Deliver precision cuts, fades, line-ups, and beard shaping to a consistently high standard
• Provide the full Atelier service range, including executive line-up and hair wash, locs re-twisting, cornrows and extensions, cornrow removal, and hair dye and texturing
• Consult properly before every cut — understand head shape, hair texture, growth pattern, and what the client actually wants
• Recognise scalp and skin concerns common among Black men, including razor bumps, ingrown hairs, folliculitis, and dandruff, and refer clients to our trichologist or aesthetician where appropriate
• Recommend Okunriin beard and scalp products suited to the client's hair and routine
• Secure the client's next appointment before they leave the chair
• Maintain strict hygiene — sanitised tools, a clean station, and correct handling of all equipment
• Keep accurate records of services delivered and products sold, and submit a short weekly report
• Maintain the calm, premium atmosphere of the Haven at all times

What we are looking for

• Demonstrable experience as a barber, with a portfolio of your work
• Genuine skill with textured Afro hair — fades, tapers, sharp line-ups, and beard sculpting
• Competence with locs, cornrows, and braiding is a strong advantage
• A consultative manner. Our clients are paying for judgement as much as technique
• High standards of personal grooming, punctuality, and hygiene
• Reliability. Clients book specifically with their barber, and they notice when you are not there
• Formal barbering training or certification is an advantage but not essential if your work speaks for itself
