Your Tasks
- Development of low-level embedded software for satellite on-board systems (C/C++, perspectively also Rust)
- Technical responsibility for the elaboration and evaluation of technical solution approaches as well as technical guidance and
- Support of team members within the project team
- Consideration of real-time requirements, deterministic behavior, and limited resources (CPU, memory, bandwidth)
- Collaboration in requirements development at Technical Specification (TS) level as well as co-engineering at Requirements Baseline (RB) level
- Co-design of software architectures for satellite flight software
- Conception, further development, and integration of software components
- Development and execution of Software Unit Tests; Software Integration Tests; Software Validation Tests (TS & RB level)
- Performance of verification activities (e.g., static analyses)
- Creation and maintenance of project-relevant software documentation
- Support of Scrum Master and Product Owner in planning and reporting
- Further development of processes, tools, and development environments
- Integration of modern software engineering practices (CI, testing, static analysis) into ECSS-compliant processes
Your Qualifications
Technical
- Completed degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or comparable
- Several years of experience in Embedded Software Engineering
- Very good knowledge of C/C++, ideally initial experience with Rust
- Solid background in resource-constrained real-time systems
- Experience with software quality in regulated environments (e.g., ECSS, DO-178)
- Knowledge in: - Software architecture and design
- Unit testing & software validation
- Configuration and build management
- Scripting (e.g., Python)
- Experience with RTOS (e.g., RTEMS, VxWorks, Embedded Linux)
- Knowledge of common communication interfaces (MIL-Bus, CAN, Ethernet, serial interfaces)
- Very good English skills, German is an advantage
Nice to have
- Understanding of multicore architectures, concurrency, and deterministic scheduling
- Experience with LEON processors (GR712/GR740), SPARC architectures
- Knowledge of safety and security mechanisms (e.g., memory safety, FMEA/FTA)
- Knowledge of typical space buses and protocols
