Embedded Software Engineer (m/f/d) for Satellite Telecom Payloads (Software Developer)
Must-have:RustAISecurity
Machine translation — original language: German.Show original
Your Tasks
Embedded Software Engineering
- Development of low-level embedded software for On-Board systems (C, C++ or Rust), bare-metal, RTOS, or embedded Linux
- Design and implementation of payload-proximate control and configuration software for reconfigurable telecom payloads
- Design and implementation of interfaces between payload electronics, On-Board-Processing, and the onboard computer in close cooperation with payload engineering, systems engineering, and hardware and FPGA teams
- Consideration of real-time requirements, deterministic behavior, and limited resources (CPU, memory, bandwidth)
Software Defined Radio / Software Defined Networking
- Development and integration of embedded software for the control and configuration of SDR functions
- Assessment of control and management logic for beamforming, Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), and channel configuration
- Close coupling of embedded software with digital signal processing (DSP) and FPGA- or ASIC-based payload components
- Analysis, evaluation, and integration of payload-internal data and packet routing and the dynamic configuration of data paths within the satellite, taking into account satellite-specific constraints (latency, availability, deterministic behavior)
Your Qualifications

- Knowledge of modern mobile communication concepts in a payload context (5G/6G architecture, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN))
- Ability to translate complex telecom concepts into software specifications
- Understanding of real-time requirements and deterministic systems
Nice-to-Have
- Knowledge of High-Throughput satellites or On-Board-Processing
- Experience with network simulation tools (NS-3, OMNeT++)
- Knowledge of MPSoCs and the toolchains used
- Experience with safety/security mechanisms
- Specification and verification of requirements according to ECSS or DO-178B
- Experience in AI-based telecom methods (routing, beamforming, SDR/SDN)
Personal
- Strong communication skills and enjoyment of interface-oriented work
- Systems thinking and a structured way of working
- Very good English skills; German is a plus
- High quality awareness as well as strong teamwork and communication skills combined with enthusiasm for your own work
