Project Engineer
We are looking for a person graduated in Mechanical Engineering with solid practical experience in an offshore environment and deep knowledge of large-scale diesel engines. It is fundamental that the professional has proven experience in executing large maintenance tasks and modernization projects (retrofit) of equipment, having acted directly as a hands-on executor or in the coordination of field activities.
Responsibilities and assignments Act managerially and practically in the mechanical adaptation and commissioning of equipment in marine diesel engines. Perform sporadic offshore trips for the installation/supervision of real-scale prototype validation tests on drillships or similar vessels. Analyze operational parameters (temperature, cylinder pressure, combustion curves) in diesel engines and work with partner laboratories to manage component integrity testing and operational risk assessment through mechanical wear, corrosion, or metal embrittlement in long-duration tests. Contribute technically to risk analyses (HAZID, FMECA, FMEA) and technical analysis of classification society standards (DNV, ABS) to ensure that the mechanical installation complies with all rigorous maritime safety standards. Ensure that system tests and operation occur in synergy with the vessel's operation, coordinating activities with other crew members.
Requirements and qualifications High familiarity with operational safety practices, being responsible and/or active in opening PTs, preparing APRIs, and ensuring energy lockouts. Completed degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields that possess theoretical and practical mastery of diesel engines. Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance, operation, or optimization projects of large diesel engines used in power generation and naval propulsion. Previous offshore experience and deep knowledge of operational routines and the dynamics of work release on drillships or offshore platforms. Experience in relationships with technology-based companies and startups in R&D projects, acting as a technical facilitator in the validation of prototypes and proofs of concept (PoC) - desirable. Technical knowledge in the selection and maintenance of hydraulic pumps, focusing on axial piston, gear, and vane models. Advanced English (will be tested).
