Senior Analytical Engineer (M/F)

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Analytical Engineer to join the transverse data team within Octopus Energy France.

The data function in France brings together about fifteen data analysts, data scientists, and data engineers, embedded in different business areas. This transverse team ensures the construction of solid, shared, and reliable foundations.

You will join this team where you will work on analytical foundations, the semantic layer, and data governance. This is a transverse role that will interface with business needs and other data practitioners.

You will be responsible for strengthening and developing our data foundations to streamline the work of all business units and data practitioners.

Thus, your main missions will be the following:

Data modeling and semantic layer:

- Design, develop, and maintain shared data models to serve business needs (notably financial) and management

- Be a technical reference point for all finance and energy procurement teams

- Structure and organize data governance to guarantee a single source of truth

Ensure data quality and standards:

- Be the guarantor of the quality of our data models through the dissemination of best practices and monitoring of our data quality

- Avoid redundancies and the accumulation of technical debt to maintain clean lineage.

- Manage incidents on our most critical models

Drive and upskill the data community:

- Lead or co-lead training, coaching, and routines dedicated to data teams

- Be the driver of the AI transition of our stack: skill creation, demonstration of examples, and use cases

- Ensure code quality via code reviews (PR reviews) on dbt models and SQL queries produced by other data practitioners

Ensure international coordination:

- Ensure consistency and act as a relay for the common practices of the Octopus Energy group

- Contribute to the improvement of our shared models

Profile sought:

- Experience & Technical Skills

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical engineering, analytical data engineering, or analytics with a strong technical orientation

- Advanced mastery of dbt: experience on real-sized projects, including management of structure, documentation, and tests

- SQL expert - capable of optimizing complex queries on a modern data warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, or equivalent)

- You are comfortable with Python for automation and analytical scripts, knowing development best practices

- You are comfortable with data visualization tools and programmatic management practices for these tools (e.g., "dashboard-as-a-code").

- You have a good knowledge of analytical architecture patterns: Kimball, Data Vault, Medallion, or hybrid - and especially the "why" behind each choice

- Experience in data quality management

- Academic background in statistics / mathematics / economics, specialized degree in data, or from an Engineering school with a strong appetite for Data

- Aptitudes and Interpersonal Skills

- Rigor and attention to detail: data quality begins with code quality

- Pedagogy and a desire to upskill others to avoid creating silos

- You are comfortable in a decentralized environment: you must convince through the quality of your work and the clarity of your recommendations to data practitioners

- You like dynamic environments: Octopus Energy evolves fast and needs can change
