Do you want to work in a caring environment that moves fast? As the 5th largest French supplier in 10 years, Octopus Energy is a renewable energy supplier acting as a true spearhead for the electro-tech revolution.

How do we do it? We can't revolutionize the world by working like everyone else. We try not to overcomplicate things; here, we evolve in an environment without too many processes or too many rules. The most important thing is not just to follow the movement, but to create it.

We don't want to create corporate clones. We want you, with your talents, your perspectives, and your unique skills.

Do you want to join a fast-growing company, with a lot of autonomy and a rather different way of doing People Ops?

Welcome to Octopus Energy France.

With us, we operate according to a NoHR model: managers are the primary people point of contact for their teams. The role of the People Ops team is to provide them with the right framework, the right tools, the right information, and the right reflexes so they can be autonomous on a daily basis.

In this context, we are currently looking for someone solid in People Ops, capable of both building and evolving our ways of working, but also contributing concretely to the team's daily operations.

The position is organized around two main pillars, each representing approximately 50% of the role:

- build: People projects, tools, data, automation, AI, improvement of our processes

- run: personnel administration, payroll, support to managers and teams, data control and reliability

This balance is obviously not fixed: depending on news, projects, or times of the year, you may spend more time on one or the other.

What we are primarily looking for is someone who loves building things without losing touch with operations.

What you will do:

  1. Build: evolving our People Ops

An important part of your role will be taking charge of projects that allow the People Ops team and managers to work better, more simply, and more efficiently.

In particular, you will:

- manage People projects from end to end, from identifying the need to implementation

- simplify and improve our processes

- build and evolve our Help Hub and our documentation

- build dashboards and reporting useful for management: consolidate and better exploit data from our various tools

- automate certain controls, reporting, or repetitive tasks

- identify and test simple use cases around AI and automation

- participate in Group projects with Octopus teams based notably in the United Kingdom

- support managers in adopting new tools or new ways of working

We are looking for someone who likes starting from a sometimes slightly vague need, understanding it, structuring it, and arriving at a concrete solution.

Data and AI are tools at the service of People Ops and teams, not an end in themselves. We are therefore not looking for a pure Data Analyst or a tech profile, but someone who knows how to use them to solve operational problems.

  1. Run: contributing to the team's daily operations

The other half of the position consists of being fully involved in daily People Ops.

Depending on the team's needs, you may intervene on:

- personnel administration: contracts, amendments, movements, absences, exits.

- preparation and control of payroll

- control and consistency of data between our various tools

- questions from managers and employees

- monitoring and resolution of operational topics

- support to the team during periods of high activity or when an urgent matter arises

The idea is not for you to specialize in administration or payroll. However, you must be comfortable getting your hands dirty, understanding the topics, and providing support to the team when necessary.

With us, the run is also an important source for the build: it is often by being confronted with daily irritants that we identify what needs to be simplified, automated, or redesigned.

This position is for you if:

  • you have at least 7 years of experience in People Ops, HR Operations, or in a generalist role with a strong operational dimension

- you have a very good level of spoken English (minimum B2-C1), indispensable for working with Octopus teams internationally

- you have already worked in a start-up / scale-up environment, where you must know how to navigate ambiguity, adapt quickly, and move forward without everything being perfectly framed

- you are comfortable with People Ops run: personnel administration, payroll, data control, support to managers and teams

- you are comfortable with data and know how to use it to ensure reliab
