OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Manager - Community Relations and Development. This role is a critical leadership role for the Didipio mine, reporting to the Country President & General Manager External Affairs and Social Performance. The position will lead the External Affairs and Social Performance function at the Didipio Mine, building trusted and sustainable stakeholder relationships while managing social, human-rights, regulatory and operational risks and opportunities. Integrate social performance across operations and project development to support compliance, sustainable development and the mine’s social licence to operate.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies aligned with corporate and site Standards.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with communities, Indigenous Peoples, government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
- Manage social risks, impacts, human-rights due diligence, grievances, land-access matters and community commitments.
- Lead community development, sustainability and social enterprise programs, including budgets, schedules and performance reporting.
- Provide strategic advice to site leadership and integrate social performance requirements across operational and project decisions through proactive leadership and strategic thinking.
- Lead, coach and develop the Community Relations and Development team.
- Manage departmental plans, resources, contractors and budgets to deliver agreed outcomes.
- Maintain effective governance, records, reporting and regulatory compliance
- Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum seven years’ progressive experience in community relations, social performance, external affairs, sustainability, or related functions, preferably in mining or major projects
- Demonstrated capability in stakeholder engagement, community development, grievance management, social risk, compliance support, and partnerships with communities, government, Indigenous Peoples, and civil society
- Amenable to report in Didipio and Makati
