YOUR MISSIONS

You will report to the Technical Director or the Plant Architect, and you will be in charge of the electrical design authority for the NUWARD SMR. Your responsibility will be to hold the electrical design authority of the SMR and to ensure that the electrical design principles, architecture, criteria, and engineering methods satisfy product, safety, operation, and performance requirements, including when engineering production is outsourced. You will then be required to:

• Define and maintain the overall electrical architecture and the design intent of the plant;
• Establish the Electrical Design Principles & Criteria applicable to the Nuclear Island (NI), Conventional Island (CI), Servicing Systems (NSR), and partner engineering;
• Hold the Master Electrical Architecture and the single-line diagram at the architectural level, as well as the associated structuring decisions, including within decision-making committees;
• Translate plant requirements and safety recommendations into electrical design principles;
• Arbitrate structuring choices: generation and distribution, voltage levels, sources, redundancy, AC/DC, protections, load shedding, islanding, Design Basis Conditions/Design Extension Conditions (DBC/DEC), and separation;
• Approve electrical engineering and calculation methods after review by the relevant technical referents and integrators (RADIV);
• Rule on deviations and discrepancies affecting the baseline, major interfaces, or margins, and govern the electrical margin strategy;
• Challenge partner engineering options and demand the necessary demonstrations before any decision;
• Directly or transversely manage a team that supports you on contractual, integration, and technical aspects. Job location in Lyon with occasional travel to be expected to various NUWARD sites (Paris, Tours) and partner engineering firms.

YOUR PROFILE

A graduate engineer in electrotechnics or electrical engineering or equivalent, you have a minimum of more than 10 years of experience, including significant experience in complex power network architecture. Experience in a nuclear environment is strongly desired. You have solid experience in:

• Power electrical architecture: generation, High Voltage A/ Low Voltage (HTA/BT) distribution, backup sources, inverters, batteries, and protections;
• Critical analysis of electrical studies: load-flow, short-circuit, selectivity, motor starting, battery sizing, and transients;
• IEC, IEEE, and RCC-E standards applicable to nuclear installations.

Nuclear culture is required, particularly regarding classification, defense in depth, single failure, independence, common modes, DBC/DEC, and qualification; English reading, writing, and speaking required.
