Java Backend Engineer – Spring Boot & Stakeholder Management

We are looking for a hands-on Java Backend Engineer to develop, enhance and support enterprise banking applications in Singapore. The engineer will work directly with business users, product owners and technology teams to understand operational concerns, clarify requirements and propose practical technical solutions.

• Develop and enhance backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design, develop and support RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Engage directly with business users and product owners to understand requirements and resolve concerns.
• Translate business requirements into practical technical designs and solutions.
• Write complex SQL queries for data analysis, validation and production troubleshooting.
• Investigate application incidents, perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Support SIT, UAT, production deployment and post-release stabilization.
• Work in Linux/Unix environments and use shell scripts for operational and automation activities.
• Participate in solution discussions, code reviews and application-modernization initiatives.
• Communicate delivery progress, risks, dependencies and technical issues clearly to stakeholders.
• Maintain technical documentation and support knowledge-transfer activities.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on Java backend development experience.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong SQL skills, including joins, subqueries, aggregations and query troubleshooting.
• Experience with Linux/Unix and basic shell scripting.
• Experience in production support, incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Bitbucket and Jira.
• Good understanding of software-engineering principles, design patterns and clean coding.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience working directly with business users, product owners or other stakeholders.
• Ability to understand stakeholder concerns and recommend solutions independently.
• Banking or financial-services experience would be advantageous.
