Introduction

NTIC Europe GmbH is the German subsidiary of Northern Technologies International Corporation (NASDAQ: NTIC), a US-based specialist in corrosion protection and bio-based plastics. We are a small, lean team in Krefeld operating in an international group environment. As our Accountant you own the full finance function of the German entity on your own — from day-to-day bookkeeping through statutory financial statements and reporting to the US parent. You work closely with the local General Manager and directly with the International Controller and the finance team in the United States. This is a hands-on, one-person function with real ownership and room to grow as the operation develops. Tasks

Run the complete day-to-day accounting of NTIC Europe GmbH: accounts payable and receivable, banking, general ledger and journal entries. Prepare the monthly and annual financial statements under German GAAP (HGB) and deliver the monthly reporting package converted to US GAAP for the parent. Own the month-end close on a tight timeline (monthly figures by working day 10; quarterly figures fully reconciled, as required of a US-listed group). Prepare and file German VAT (Umsatzsteuer-Voranmeldung). Handle intercompany accounting and reconciliations with the US parent and the European joint-venture network. Maintain inventory and cost-of-goods accounting, including reconciliation and write-down / disposal matters. Run the small local payroll and ensure the mandatory social-security, pension and health-insurance payments are made accurately and on time. Provide documentation to auditors and support external audits and authority reviews. Handle reporting queries and ad-hoc requests from management in Germany and the responsible people in the USA independently.

Profile

Completed commercial education with a qualification as Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) or equivalent, or a comparable education combined with solid hands-on experience. At least 3 years of professional experience in accounting, ideally including responsibility for a full set of books. Sound knowledge of German financial accounting and HGB financial-statement preparation; exposure to US GAAP or IFRS reporting / conversions is a strong plus. Solid knowledge of German VAT and, ideally, intercompany accounting. Confident with accounting software and very strong Excel; experience with Lexware is a plus, and any SAP / S/4HANA experience is welcome. Very good written and spoken English, this is the working language with the US team (German native or fluent). Highly self-managed, proactive and reliable: someone who takes ownership of the function and moves things forward without being managed day-to-day. Strong integrity and clear communication: the confidence to raise questions and discrepancies openly with the relevant stakeholders.
