Associate Vice President, Global Leadership

Job Title: Associate Vice President Global Leadership

Department: Global Leadership, People, Leadership and Performance, People, Organisation & Corporate Affairs

Location: Bagsværd, Denmark

Your impact begins here

As Associate Vice President Global Leadership, you will set the global direction for how leaders at Novo learn, lead and perform. You will translate corporate strategy into clear leadership priorities, define the leadership behaviours expected under The Novo Way and turn them into programmes and tools leaders use in everyday work. As Novo raises its ambition, your work will help leaders across the organisation build the skills, clarity and performance needed to deliver our strategy.

What you’ll bring

You are a strategic people leader who creates clarity and direction, influences senior stakeholders and makes leadership development useful in the flow of work. You combine enterprise thinking with a clear understanding of how needs differ across business areas and markets. To succeed, you will bring:

A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

At least 10 years’ experience in leadership development or people and organisational development in a large international organisation.

Proven accountability for a function or global portfolio, including leading teams and building strategies or programmes that deliver business impact in a matrix organisation.

The ability to advise senior leaders and translate business needs into practical behavioural change and measurable outcomes.

An enterprise mindset, strong business acumen and sound analytical judgement when setting portfolio and resource priorities.

Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships across functions and levels.

You take initiative, anticipate needs and turn ideas into action. You bring a practical, hands-on approach and the drive to keep things moving. You lead with clarity and care, build alignment across organisational boundaries and create an inclusive environment where your team can develop and perform.

Useful, but not essential:

A master’s degree.

Experience driving performance management.

Experience across different parts of the value chain or areas of People & Organisation.

What you’ll do

You will own leadership development and a broader learning portfolio at Novo, building the strategic skills, mindsets and practical tools leaders need to support our strategy and culture. You will:

Translate corporate strategy into clear leadership priorities that address real business needs, and set clear expectations for leadership behaviours aligned with The Novo Way.

Oversee leadership standards, the leadership toolbox and core programmes, including performance management, using external benchmarks and leading practice to keep them sharp.

Advance AI-supported leadership development, helping leaders learn in new and more relevant ways.

Lead the broader learning portfolio, including the Value Chain Academy, specialist programmes and social learning platforms for coaching and mentoring.

Measure effectiveness, behaviour change and business impact together with Workforce Intelligence and HRBP teams, and use the insights to improve what you offer.

Coach and develop the Global Leadership team, creating an inclusive environment where people can perform and grow.

Who you’ll work with

You will lead Global Leadership as a leader of leaders, with three teams reporting to you. Global Leadership sits within People, Leadership and Performance, part of People, Organisation & Corporate Affairs, where colleagues help create an engaging, inclusive workplace and attract and develop the talent Novo needs.

Your work spans all of Novo. Your teams shape common standards and core programmes, EVP P&O Business Partner teams translate them into local priorities, and leaders put them into practice. You will partner closely with senior leaders and P&O business partners to understand business needs and embed leadership practices in everyday work, and with Workforce Intelligence and HRBP teams to show what is working. These relationships connect strategy, design and day-to-day leadership, so progress moves from priority to practice at pace.

What you can expect here

You will shape how leadership works across a global organisation at a time of real change, with the trust to set direction and the accountability to deliver it. Your voice will help define what good leadership looks like at Novo, and you will see the impact in how leaders set priorities, give honest feedback and perform.

You will grow alongside senior colleagues and experts across People & Organisation and the business, broadening your perspective across the value chain. Opportunities to learn and develop are all around you, and our benefits are designed with your career and life stage in mind.
