About the position

The Faculty of Business at NMBU invites applications for a permanent position as Associate Professor in International Economics.

We are seeking a candidate with strong academic competence in international economics and an interest in applying economic analysis to major global challenges. Tasks

The main tasks of the position are to:

  • Conduct high-quality research in international economics or related fields, and publish regularly in peer-reviewed academic journals.
  • Teach and develop courses in international economics and related fields, particularly related to the master's program in Global Economy and Politics.
  • Supervise bachelor's, master's, and PhD students, including supervision of projects and theses within themes related to international economics, global economic changes, and analysis of political measures and instruments.
  • Contribute to the further development of the department's study programs, research environment, and international academic profile.
  • Apply for and contribute to externally funded research projects, including interdisciplinary projects relevant to NMBU's profile.
  • Collaborate with public authorities, industry, organizations, and other external partners.
  • Contribute to administrative tasks and other common activities at the department, in collaboration with colleagues and students.

Competence

All qualifications below are requirements for the position, unless it is specified that they are an advantage.

Qualification requirements

The applicant must have:

  • A Ph.D. in economics or a closely related field relevant to international economics and/or development economics, or equivalent competence documented through academic work of the same scope and quality.
  • Documented research competence and publication merits within international economics or related fields relevant to the position.
  • Pedagogical competence in accordance with NMBU's requirements for Associate Professor. Any lack of pedagogical competence must be acquired within two years of appointment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.

Qualifications that are an advantage

  • Experience with applied research, analysis of political measures and instruments, interdisciplinary research, as well as externally funded research projects or research collaborations.
  • Experience with course and program development, student-active learning, and teaching in international and interdisciplinary study programs.
  • Experience with dissemination, collaboration with public authorities, research institutions, industry, or other external actors.
  • Experience with academic administration or institutional development.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.

Applicants who do not have competence in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at the time of appointment will be required to acquire Norwegian language skills at the B2 level within three years.

Salary and terms of employment and further information

The position is classified under position code 1011 Associate Professor (NOK 720,000 – 920,000) depending on qualifications. For particularly well-qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. Salary increases are granted based on seniority in the position, and particularly qualified applicants can apply for promotion to Professor after 3 months in the position.

The Faculty of Business at NMBU educates business economists, economists, and master's candidates in entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as bioeconomy. The faculty also has its own PhD program.
