Job Overview

The Vice President, Transformation Specialist is a high-impact, execution-focused role tasked with defining and delivering strategic transformation initiatives across Nomura. This position bridges strategic vision and operational execution, requiring a change-driven leader who can translate ambiguous objectives into structured, measurable outcomes while engaging senior stakeholders globally.

The ideal candidate is a go-getter with strong technical rigor (financial modeling, AI/Excel) and exceptional leadership (influencing without authority, driving cross-functional alignment). While domain expertise in financial services is advantageous, the role prioritizes technical adaptability, change leadership, and execution excellence.

The VP will lead cross-functional teams and engage senior stakeholders across functions and regions. The portfolio will span structural reform, location strategy, AI-enabled transformation, outsourcing and strategic vendor partnerships, with a focus on measurable outcomes and effective execution.

Responsibilities

Strategy, Business Cases and Workstream Definition

  • Translate strategic priorities into well-defined initiatives, problem statements, options and target outcomes.
  • Develop rigorous business cases, including baseline analysis, financial models, benefits, costs, dependencies, implementation options and delivery risks.
  • Scope workstreams, define deliverables and milestones, establish governance, and create practical mobilisation and execution plans.
  • Apply strong numerical judgement to challenge assumptions, test scenarios and support evidence-based investment decisions.

Transformation Delivery and Value Realisation

  • Own initiatives from definition through mobilisation and delivery, maintaining clear plans, decision points, dependencies, risks and outcomes.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams through influence, setting direction and holding contributors accountable without relying on formal line-management authority.
  • Create transparent reporting for senior governance forums and ensure agreed benefits are measurable, tracked and realised.
  • Balance strategic ambition, execution feasibility, control requirements and sustainable organisational capability.

Strong AI-Adoption into the role

  • Identify, articulate and prioritise practical AI prompts and use cases that improve productivity, decision-making and business outcomes within the role.
  • Use Microsoft Copilot effectively for administration, analysis, document production and presentations; bring familiarity with the broader enterprise AI landscape.

Senior Stakeholder Engagement and Project Leadership

  • Build trusted relationships with Business Managers and senior stakeholders across functions and regions, including at VP, Executive Director and Managing Director level.
  • Structure complex issues into concise, decision-ready materials and communicate recommendations with clarity and credibility.
  • Facilitate workshops, challenge constructively, resolve ambiguity and build alignment across stakeholders with differing priorities.
  • Coordinate global project teams across Asia, the UK and the US, ensuring clear ownership, timely decisions and consistent execution.

What Success Looks Like

  • Strategic priorities are converted quickly into credible, decision-ready business cases and clearly scoped workstreams.
  • Financial and operational assumptions are transparent, evidence-based and sufficiently robust to support senior investment decisions.
  • Projects mobilise effectively, maintain senior stakeholder alignment and deliver agreed milestones, benefits and control outcomes.
  • AI use cases and prompts move beyond ideas into practical adoption, with measurable productivity or business value.
  • Project and business solution recommendations balance value, capability, resilience, governance and regulatory requirements.
  • The VP is recognized as a trusted, self-directed transformation partner who can lead project teams and influence effectively across functions, cultures and time zones.

Requirements

  • Minimum Degree in Business Management or related field
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in business transformation function with a focus on strategy, change delivery, and business analysis within investment banking or the wider financial services sector.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial modelling, scenario analysis, cost-benefit assessment, benefits sizing and confident interpretation of operational and workforce data.
  • Experience in defining strategic initiatives, preparing compelling business cases with financials and converting ambiguous objectives into structured, executable workstreams.
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 user skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with practical experience using Microsoft Copilot for administration, analysis, document creation and presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and progressing AI prompts and/or use cases that improve productivity or deliver measurable outcomes; knowledge of Anthropic or similar AI models would be advantageous.
  • Track record of successful end-to-end project delivery, including planning, governance, risk and dependency management, senior reporting and benefits realisation.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, with the judgement and presence to engage, influence and challenge Business Managers and stakeholders at the working level (Vice President or Executive Director).
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams through influence and accountability in an individual-contributor role.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred: location strategy and organisational design; target footprint and offshoring execution; AI transformation; or outsourcing and strategic vendor partnerships.
  • Understanding of sourcing, outsourcing governance, service management third-party risk, operational resilience and applicable regulatory requirements within financial services is preferred.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgement, intellectual curiosity and the ability to work independently across multiple priorities with targeted direction.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with global stakeholders and maintain flexibility to manage stakeholder communications across Asia, the UK and the US.
