NJR Recruitment is delighted to be working with a forward-thinking financial planning business in Liverpool who are looking to appoint an experienced Technical Paraplanner to join their growing team.
This is not a traditional, process-driven paraplanning role. It is an opportunity to join a business that takes a genuinely personalised approach to financial planning, where technical expertise, critical thinking and high-quality advice are at the heart of everything they do.
As a Technical Paraplanner, you will be the analytical force behind the advice process, working closely with Financial Planners, Client Partners and Client Facing Paraplanners to ensure every recommendation is technically robust, compliant and tailored to the individual client.
The Role
You will take ownership of the technical construction of financial plans, interpreting detailed client information, challenging assumptions and exploring the options available before developing a clear and robust advice framework.
This is a behind-the-scenes technical specialist role . You will not be client meeting focused. Instead, you will use your analytical expertise to ensure advisers have the technical insight and high-quality documentation they need to deliver excellent outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpreting fact finds, cashflows and meeting notes to identify planning opportunities and construct the appropriate advice framework
- Undertaking detailed technical analysis across pensions, investments, tax planning and protection
- Leading the preparation and production of initial, ongoing and ad hoc suitability reports
- Project managing implementation cases through to sign-off, working closely with advisers and the wider administration team
- Preparing technical summaries, recommendation matrices and investment comparisons
- Using cashflow modelling and risk profiling tools to support the advice process
- Reviewing cases critically and identifying potential issues, gaps or inconsistencies
- Challenging recommendations where required to ensure the advice is technically sound
- Keeping fully up to date with changes in FCA regulation, tax legislation and financial products
- Collaborating closely with Financial Planners, Client Facing Paraplanners and Client Partners to deliver a consistent and high-quality service
About You
We are looking for a technically strong Paraplanner who genuinely enjoys complexity and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
You will ideally be Level 4 qualified and working towards Chartered status or CFP , with a strong background in technical paraplanning and financial planning.
You will also have:
- Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments and tax planning
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience producing high-quality suitability reports
- Experience using cashflow modelling and risk profiling tools
- Exceptional attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy
- The confidence to question and challenge where something does not appear right
- The ability to take ownership of cases and manage them through to completion
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to make complex information clear
- A naturally curious mindset and a willingness to investigate rather than make assumptions
- The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues while being comfortable working independently
What Great Looks Like
You will take real ownership of the quality and rigour of your work, with a commitment to getting things right first time.
You will enjoy working behind the scenes, solving complex technical problems and giving Financial Planners the confidence that the advice being delivered is built on solid foundations.
You will be comfortable constructively challenging advisers where something does not stack up and will always look beyond the obvious answer to make sure the client's circumstances have been properly considered.
What You'll Be Joining
The business is built around a set of values that place high-quality financial planning ahead of product-led sales.
- Clarity - making complex matters straightforward and understandable.
- Rigour - taking pride in precision, detail and technical quality.
- Accountability - owning your work and delivering on your commitments.
- Curiosity - questioning assumptions, exploring possibilities and continually learning.
- Teamwork - collaborating effectively and putting the collective outcome ahead of individual ego.
Career Development
This position is designed as a technical specialist career path , rather than a route into financial advice.
You will have the opportunity to continually deepen your technical expertise, expand your knowledge of complex financial planning and play a critical role in supporting high-quality advice and client outcomes.
For an experienced Technical Paraplanner who wants to specialise, challenge themselves and work within a business that genuinely values technical excellence, this is an excellent opportunity.
