PLC Engineer

Join our Engineering team as a PLC Engineer! Nidec Powertrain Systems de México is a division of Nidec Corporation, a world leader in the manufacturing of motors and automotive components. What will be your mission?

As a PLC Engineer, your main objective will be to design, program, optimize, and commission industrial automation and control systems (mainly on Keyence, Mitsubishi, and Omron platforms). You will be the key pillar to guarantee operational continuity, safety, and the technological integration of our automated equipment.

Your main challenges (activities) will be:

• Control Programming and Standardization:
• Develop, program, standardize, and diagnose PLCs using Ladder, Structured Text (ST), and Function Block Diagram (FBD) languages.
• Work with KEYENCE (KV Studio), Mitsubishi (GX Works2/GX Works3), and Omron (Sysmac Studio) platforms.
• Configure and program HMI interfaces for machine-operator interaction.

Network Integration and Instrumentation

• Integrate field devices such as sensors, actuators, code readers, RFID systems, and industrial instrumentation.
• Configure and integrate motion control systems (motion control, servomotors, and frequency inverters) and machine vision systems.
• Integrate automation systems with higher-level platforms (SCADA and MES).
• Participate in continuous improvement projects applying Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Prepare detailed technical documentation and periodic backups of control programs.

What do we need from you? / Your education

Education: Engineering in Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation and Control, Robotics, Electrical, or a related field (degree completed).

Key knowledge: Mastery of industrial automation processes (Automation process).

Your journey (Required experience):

Previous experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years

Your system (Technical environment and work tools):

• PLC development environments: KEYENCE (KV Studio), Mitsubishi (GX Works2 / GX Works3), and Omron (Sysmac Studio).
• Programming languages: Ladder Logic, Structured Text (ST), and Function Block Diagram (FBD).
• Industrial networks and protocols: EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, CC-Link, Modbus TCP/RTU, and OPC UA.

Languages: An English (intermediate) level that allows for reading and reporting capability.

Soft Skills (Key competencies):

• Teamwork and collaboration: Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams (maintenance, production, quality, and projects).
• Technical analysis and critical thinking: Advanced ability to diagnose complex problems, evaluate variables, and make data-driven decisions.
• Results orientation and sense of urgency: Proactive approach to meet project objectives, resolve equipment downtime, and optimize delivery times.
• Methodical problem solving: Discipline to approach failures through analytical and structured methodologies (such as RCA / Root Cause).
