Role Description The Short-Term Consultant will support the design, implementation, and evaluation of health programs and interventions within NHED’s portfolio in Nigeria. This contract, on-site role will involve working closely with project teams to conduct field assessments, collect and analyze data, prepare technical reports, and contribute to evidence-based recommendations for program improvement. The consultant will engage with stakeholders at community, state, and national levels, participate in planning and review meetings, and help ensure that activities align with NHED’s focus on health equity and governance. Daily tasks may include coordinating with partner organizations, supporting capacity-building activities, documenting best practices, and contributing to knowledge-sharing materials. The role requires flexibility, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to working in resource-constrained and remote settings. Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise in public health, health systems, or development programs, with experience working in Nigerian or similar low-resource contexts. Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and interpretation, including the use of basic monitoring and evaluation tools and methodologies. Ability to prepare clear, concise technical reports, policy briefs, and presentations for diverse stakeholders. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with community members, government officials, and partner organizations. Proven capacity to work on-site in field locations, adapt to changing project needs, and manage multiple tasks within tight timelines. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Health, Health Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field; advanced degree is an advantage. Knowledge of health equity, governance, and pro-poor approaches, with a demonstrated commitment to serving marginalized populations. Familiarity with the Nigerian health system and regulatory environment; prior experience with not-for-profit or NGO projects is preferred.
