Infrastructure Engineer

Role: Infrastructure Projects Engineer Industry: Managed IT Services Location: West Sussex Salary: £40,000 to £50,000

Are you an experienced Infrastucture / IT Engineer ready to move away from repetitive support tickets and take ownership of varied technical projects?

We're recruiting for a well-established Managed Service Provider looking to add a Projects Engineer to its growing technical team. You'll deliver a mixture of cloud migrations, infrastructure upgrades, networking installations and security projects for customers across the South East.

This is a hands-on position where you'll manage your own technical workload, work directly with customers and play an important part in delivering projects from planning through to completion.

What you'll be working on

• Microsoft 365 migrations and configuration
• Server installations and infrastructure upgrades
• Network, Wi-Fi and firewall deployments
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Endpoint security and MFA rollouts
• Virtualisation projects
• Customer site installations
• Technical documentation and project handovers

You'll work alongside the Projects Manager to plan delivery, manage timescales and provide clear progress updates. You'll also identify potential issues early and ensure project records and documentation remain accurate.

What we're looking for Your technical background should include:

• Microsoft 365, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive and Entra ID
• Windows Server and Active Directory
• Networking technologies such as DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switching and VPNs
• Hyper-V
• Backup and disaster recovery
• Endpoint security and multi-factor authentication
• Business Wi-Fi configuration and deployment

You should be comfortable dealing directly with customers, managing competing priorities and taking responsibility for delivering work to agreed standards.

• Datto RMM and Autotask PSA

• Huntress security products

• VoIP and 3CX
• Email security solutions
• Structured cabling
• CCTV and NVR systems

The right person

This role would suit someone who is technically strong but also organised, dependable and confident dealing with customers.

You'll need to be able to:

• Make sensible decisions independently
• Remain calm when projects encounter challenges
• Balance customer expectations with budgets and deadlines
• Produce clear and accurate documentation

Package

• Salary between £40,000 and £50,000, depending on experience
• 23 days' holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service

Location

The position is based in West Sussex and involves travel to customer sites across the South East and London.
