Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced *Automotive Mechanic* to join our busy and growing automotive repair shop in Burnaby, BC.

The ideal candidate will have at least *3 to 4 years of hands-on automotive repair experience*, strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop environment.

Applicants must have practical experience with engine diagnostics, suspension and steering repairs, engine and transmission removal and installation, and timing belt and timing chain replacement.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair cars and light-duty vehicles
• Diagnose engine performance, electrical, and drivability issues
• Perform suspension and steering repairs
• Remove and install engines and transmissions
• Replace timing belts and timing chains
• Inspect and repair brake systems
• Use scan tools and diagnostic equipment effectively
• Complete oil changes, fluid services, filter replacements, and scheduled maintenance
• Test-drive vehicles to identify concerns and verify completed repairs
• Communicate repair findings and recommendations to service advisors and management
• Complete repair orders and maintain accurate service records
• Keep tools and work areas clean, safe, and organized
• Follow workplace safety procedures and shop standards

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 to 4 years of hands-on automotive mechanic experience
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Experience performing major mechanical repairs
• Experience with engines, transmissions, timing belts, timing chains, brakes, suspension, and steering systems
• Ability to use automotive scan tools and diagnostic equipment
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Valid driver?s licence is preferred
• Own tools are considered an asset
