Senior Frontend Engineer (React / TypeScript) | Contract

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable frontend applications using React and TypeScript.
• Build reusable, responsive, and accessible UI components based on UX designs and business requirements.
• Integrate RESTful APIs and collaborate with backend engineers on data contracts and application architecture.
• Develop and maintain shared component libraries and frontend design systems.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
• Identify and resolve performance issues, technical challenges, and cross-browser compatibility problems.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and Agile sprint activities.
• Provide technical guidance and contribute to frontend best practices and coding standards.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of frontend development experience, with strong hands-on experience in React and TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of React hooks, context, component architecture, and reusable UI development.
• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, and responsive web design.
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs and working with backend development teams.
• Familiarity with frontend development tools such as Vite, Webpack, ESLint, and Git.
• Experience writing unit tests and maintaining clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a project environment.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with state management libraries such as Redux Toolkit or Zustand.
• Familiarity with UI frameworks such as Ant Design or Material UI.
• Experience developing enterprise applications, internal platforms, or government systems.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and frontend performance optimisation.
• Previous experience working in Agile development teams.

Working Environment

• Work in an Agile project team with regular sprints, reviews, and demonstrations.
• Collaborate closely with government stakeholders and end users.
• Contribute to modernisation initiatives within a structured and regulated environment.
