Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential, alongside excellent attention to detail and the ability to work confidently with large amounts of financial information. You will need to be comfortable investigating discrepancies, resolving issues, and ensuring financial information is accurate and delivered within agreed deadlines. You will also have the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues, explaining complex accounting matters in a straightforward and accessible way. Commercial awareness is important, as you will be expected to understand the wider impact of financial performance and make balanced recommendations based on your analysis. The successful candidate will be proactive and comfortable working independently, while also collaborating effectively with wider Finance and cross-functional teams. You should have a continuous improvement mindset and be willing to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting. Experience supporting or mentoring junior finance colleagues would also be advantageous, together with the confidence to act as a positive role model within the team.
