Finance Assistant

As the organisation continues to grow, they are looking for a proactive and detail-focused Finance Assistant to join their close-knit finance team and provide essential administrative and transactional support across the wider business.
Your Role and Responsibilities :
While in this position your duties may include but may not be limited to :
- Complete daily bank reconciliations and cash book journals.
- Calculate and post daily cash sweeps accurately and within required deadlines.
- Complete regular income and expense account reconciliations.
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies where required.
- Support the processing of purchase invoices.
- Assist with supplier payments when required.
- Complete supplier statement reconciliations and ensure records remain accurate and up to date.
- Prepare and post journals as required.
- Provide general administrative and transactional finance support to the wider business.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager and wider Finance team to support the smooth running of the function.
- Liaise regularly with Operations, including Team Leaders and Managers, to resolve queries and support business requirements.
- Communicate with senior stakeholders, including members of the Executive Committee, where required.
- Support the team with ad hoc finance and administrative tasks.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and contribute ideas to make the finance function more efficient.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately, professionally and within agreed deadlines.
What You Will Need to Apply:
- Previous experience within a finance administration, accounts or similar role would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- A self-disciplined and proactive approach to work.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across different areas of the business.
- A willingness to learn, develop and take on additional responsibilities over time.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team.
- The confidence to work independently and use initiative when required.
- A genuine interest in developing a career within finance.

You will work closely with the Finance Manager and wider team while also having exposure to colleagues across Operations and senior leadership. In return for your skills and experience, the company is offering a salary of up to £32,000 depending on experience. Following successful completion of your probationary period, the role operates on a hybrid basis, typically with three days in the Southampton office and two days working from home. The hybrid arrangement is discretionary and subject to business needs and performance, so there may be occasions when full-time office attendance is required. The business offers a discretionary annual bonus scheme, 22 days’ holiday plus bank holidays which increases with length of service up to 25 days, and an enhanced pension scheme.
