A reputable and growing organisation operating across the UK has partnered with the team at NET Recruit to recruit an experienced and commercially minded Development Manager to support its portfolio of projects across the Southeast. The organisation is delivering an exciting programme of Banking Hub solutions, working with a range of suppliers and stakeholders to develop and deliver high-quality locations that provide important services to local communities. With a growing portfolio of projects and a dynamic working environment, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project professional to take ownership of the Design and Build phase of multiple projects. This is a varied and autonomous position, offering the opportunity to work across a number of projects, manage key supplier relationships and have a direct influence on the successful delivery of Banking Hub solutions from design through to completion.

Your Role and Responsibilities :

While in this position your duties may include but may not be limited to :

  • Taking responsibility for planning and managing the Design and Build phase of a portfolio of Banking Hub projects across the Southeast.
  • Leading project plans to ensure the design, fit-out and delivery of each Hub is completed on time, to the required quality standards and within agreed budgets.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed project plans, monitoring progress against key milestones and identifying critical paths.
  • Building strong and effective working relationships with suppliers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Managing supplier performance to ensure activities are delivered efficiently and in line with agreed standards, SLAs, policies and project requirements.
  • Maintaining RAID logs, proactively identifying risks and issues and ensuring appropriate actions are put in place to mitigate potential delays or additional costs.
  • Tracking project performance and providing clear and regular updates for governance meetings and wider reporting requirements.
  • Working closely with Acquisition Managers and Delivery Support Managers to ensure projects progress effectively towards the successful opening of each Banking Hub.
  • Coordinating effective handovers between teams, ensuring responsibilities are clearly understood and information is communicated accurately at each stage of the project.
  • Ensuring projects remain compliant with delegated authority levels and agreed processes, particularly in relation to cost approvals, build variations and changes to time or cost.
  • Supporting effective change control, ensuring any variations are appropriately assessed, approved and recorded.
  • Ensuring governance processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle, including stage-gate approvals and key project milestones.
  • Escalating significant risks, issues or delays to the Senior Development Manager where appropriate.
  • Establishing project reviews at appropriate stages during and following completion, evaluating progress and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Working collaboratively across the wider team to ensure lessons learned are captured and applied to future projects.
  • Balancing competing priorities across multiple projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and delivery focus.
  • Undertaking any additional project or development responsibilities as required by the Senior Development Manager.

What You Will Need to Apply :

  • Proven experience within a Project Management, Development Management or similar project delivery position.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience taking projects through planning, delivery and completion.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and balancing competing priorities effectively.
  • Previous experience working on retail fit-outs, property development, construction or similar projects would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, milestones, risks, issues and change control.
  • Experience managing external suppliers, contractors or delivery partners and holding them accountable for agreed standards and timescales.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness, particularly around budgets, cost approvals and project variations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate project records and reporting.
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks and resolving issues before they impact project delivery.
  • The confidence to work autonomously, take ownership of projects and make informed decisions with limited day-to-day oversight.
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team while collaborating with wider business functions.
  • Comfortable operating within a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment, with the flexibility to adapt as project requirements develop.
  • A positive, organised and delivery-focused approach, with the ability to remain calm and effective when managing competing demands.
