Work Package Owner - Freezer & Cold Storage
Job Description
The Work Package owner supports the Project Coordinator (PC) and the Project Manager for Pac & Logistic ensuring the EPCM delivers to agreed scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
The WPO focuses on monitoring, coordinating, reviewing, interfacing, and governing EPCM performance up until FAT
After FAT the responsibility will be on WPO to drive the package until handover
The WPO acts as a package lead, coordinating EPCM and internal client team such as CQV.
This includes stakeholders, tracking progress and risks, ensuring design intent adherence, regulatory and AZ standards compliance, and documentation readiness through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.
Scope areas include (but is not limited to):
- Freezers, Thaw units
- Cold storage
- Thaw units
- Other peripheral equipment in Warehouse or Chemical warehouse facilities
Role & Responsibilities
The WPO acts a package lead or area lead within the project by managing the committed deliverables with responsibility for the budget and schedule for their area of scope.
Assist project coordinator/manager within project leadership in planning and delivering defined work scope on a project to meet agreed schedule and budget.
Responsible for cost, schedule, and ensuring the work package meets all stage-gates associated with delivery.
Coordinate with project-related members and client stakeholders, including SMEs, CQV, Vendors, Procurement, to define and drive the delivery schedule for work packages.
Act as a package lead or area lead, serving as the key contact and working from supplier selection through to operational qualified status.
Define, manage, and secure capable resources to support critical studies (FMEA, RCA, HAZOPs), and regularly monitor progress and risks, producing reports for stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with engineering, SHE, GMP & GEP work standards, and procedures to ensure the assets satisfy business needs and external regulators, promoting a positive Health and Safety culture.
Prepare regular project reports and presentations for key stakeholders and actively manage supplier/vendor performance to meet project quality, cost, and schedule.
Identify and assess risks (such as commercial, design, schedule) and mitigate impacts, with escalation to management when appropriate.
Collaborate with colleagues and manage interfaces within the project, ensuring accountability for integrated activities.
Coordinate activities with Construction, Installation teams, and Equipment Supplier during equipment installation and conduct effective work sessions.
Organize, manage, and follow up on FAT, SAT, and qualification execution and documentation, ensuring closure of deviations and compliance with system lifecycle documentation, including as-built drawings and O&M packages.
Participate in Mechanical Completion walkdowns, manage punch items, and assist with commissioning, qualification, and system startup.
Contribute to the planning and execution of sourcing strategy and manage technical and commercial supplier/vendor issues with escalation as needed.
Manage potential scope changes, ensuring change requests are communicated to the project team, and lead complex problem-solving investigations as necessary.
Support the PM to ensure compliance with the project management process (CPDP) throughout the project lifecycle and obtain necessary certifications and approvals from Customer representatives.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience leading work packages and managing resources
- Experience in Greenfield CAPEX Pharmaceutical projects
- Understanding of CQV processes
- Understanding of operational and user requirements
- Competence in ensuring compliance with design specifications, SHE standards, operational requirements, and maintenance considerations
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Excellent communication skills, including issue escalation, expectation management, and alignment with project governance
- Competence in compliance with engineering, GMP/GEP, and SHE requirements
