IP Merchandise Lead
Neowiz is a global game company that presents intense narratives and unrivaled perfection. We work with talents from all over the world to create optimal results. Crossing the boundaries of genres and platforms, such as <Cats & Soup>, <SANABI>, and <Skul>, we provide the best gaming experiences to players worldwide.
Team Introduction
Neowiz is building a new foundation for the goods merchandising business so that the IPs we create can be experienced not only within games but also in the daily lives of fans for a longer period. While previously each IP organization searched for manufacturing partners for each product and operated production and distribution individually, we aim to establish a company-wide professional merchandising system that multiple IPs can utilize together in the future.
The newly established IP MD Hub is an organization that professionally supports and systematizes the common foundation of the commercialization process—such as manufacturing/sourcing, vendor management, contracting, and sales channel operation—so that each IP organization can focus on planning and making decisions regarding high-quality products. While the direction of the product, launch timing, and final decision-making are handled by each IP PO (Product Owner), the Hub works together to ensure that products can be realized in the actual market within appropriate costs, quality, and schedules based on manufacturing and distribution expertise.
This position is not a role of operating an already established organization. You will be the "first" leader who designs the common operating system and partner network from scratch so that various IPs can continuously create great products, and who builds the necessary teams and expertise together in the future.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage the manufacturing/sourcing partner network for company-wide IP Merchandise, and systematize operational standards such as partner selection, cost, quality, and lead time.
- Collaborate with each IP PO from the product planning stage to provide expertise from a manufacturing/distribution perspective, ensuring that ideas can be implemented with producible specifications and appropriate cost structures.
- Negotiate key transaction terms with domestic and international manufacturing/distribution partners, and operate contract execution and vendor management processes in collaboration with related organizations such as Legal and Finance.
- Establish the operating system for sales channels, including online and offline goods shops within the office building, and support stable operation and expansion based on sales, inventory, and settlement data.
- Manage and share manufacturer, product, and transaction history at a company-wide level to accumulate information and partner assets that each IP organization can repeatedly utilize.
- As the business grows, collaborate with relevant professional organizations to step-by-step build necessary operating systems for follow-up areas such as inventory, logistics, import/export/customs, and vendor settlement.
- Define the Hub's role and working methods in line with the expansion of the business and role, and build the necessary teams and professional personnel in the future.
Qualifications
- Experience in implementing and commercializing Physical Merchandise such as goods, characters, content, entertainment, or brands.
- Experience proactively handling manufacturing/sourcing and Vendor Management, including discovering manufacturers, negotiating quotes/costs, sampling, mass production, quality control, and lead times.
- Experience performing business communication in English with overseas partners.
- Understanding of the entire process from IP or product planning to manufacturing/distribution, and the major risks that may occur at each stage.
- Experience coordinating different needs of various internal organizations and external partners, and leading to consensus by creating realistic alternatives.
- Ability to structure problems and create new processes or operating methods even in environments where existing methods are not sufficiently established.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fandom-based IP product business such as games, entertainment/K-pop, characters, or sports.
- Experience proposing products or business opportunities based on an understanding of fans and IPs and linking them to actual results.
- Experience in operating overseas manufacturing/sourcing partners or networks.
- Experience in establishing or operating online/offline goods malls or commerce channels.
- Practical understanding of inventory, logistics, import/export, customs, and settlement processes.
- Experience in establishing new organizations, businesses, or operating systems.
