Are you an engineer who is passionate about technology, flight safety, and problem-solving? Do you want to work with some of the world's leading civil aero engine programs and contribute to ensuring that products in service can continue to fly safely and efficiently? At the Hot Structures & Cases Center of Excellence department, we work with the development of new products as well as product support for civil aero engine programs. We are responsible for load-bearing structures where GKN Aerospace has design responsibility and ensure that our products meet high requirements for safety, quality, and airworthiness throughout the entire life cycle.

As a Repair Design Engineer, you will have a central role in the work of developing and maintaining repair instructions, technical manuals, and technical positions for components in service. You will work closely with designers, structural engineers, materials engineers, manufacturing organizations, and customers to ensure that our products can be repaired and maintained in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities and expectations include, among other things:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve repair instructions and technical manuals for commercial aero engine structures.
  • Handle technical queries, damages, and deviations from production, MRO operations, and products in service.
  • Assess damages and develop repair, acceptance, or scrap solutions.
  • Ensure that repair solutions meet requirements for airworthiness, quality, and traceability.
  • Collaborate with design, structural, materials, and manufacturing organizations to develop robust and practical solutions.
  • Implement design changes and updates in repair manuals and technical documentation.
  • Contribute to the department's continuous improvement work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who has a genuine interest in technology and who enjoys analyzing problems, finding solutions, and collaborating with others. You work in a structured manner, take responsibility for your tasks, and have the ability to translate technical requirements into clear and practical solutions.

  • Engineering education such as BSc or MSc in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience from design, product support, manufacturing, maintenance, or other relevant engineering activities.
  • Strong analytical ability and a structured way of working.
  • Good communication skills and experience collaborating with different functions.
  • Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious;

  • Experience from the aviation or aero engine industry.
  • Work with technical manuals, repair solutions, or product support.
  • Experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or SAP.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and drawing reading.
