COMPUTER SCIENTIST
You will serve as a Senior Spatial Computing Architect in the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.
Major duties
- You will deliver advanced engineering solutions to ensure superior fleet readiness and undersea dominance.
- You will serve as a senior spatial computing architect and technical coordinator, driving the development of complex software and advanced AR/VR/XR (Augmented/Virtual/Extended) Reality simulations.
- You will orchestrate engineering workflows, design scalable spatial architectures, and optimize core system performance.
- You will translate stakeholder requirements into robust, algorithmically sound solutions, and provide critical theoretical oversight.
- You will provide direct, daily technical coordination for a team of computer scientists and software development professionals to ensure complex computational project goals are met.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector leading the design, development, integration, and architectural oversight of interactive real-time 3D software applications, AR/VR/XR (Augmented/Virtual/Extended) Reality simulation systems, and spatial computing environments. Qualifying experience includes applying computer science principles; designing scalable spatial architectures, data structures, and rendering pipelines; translating mission, customer, and training requirements into technical requirements, user stories, algorithms, data models, and implementable software solutions; and providing technical leadership to multidisciplinary development teams using real-time 3D engines such as Unity. The experience must demonstrate the ability to serve as the primary computational architect and technical coordinator for advanced AR/VR/XR training simulations, including conducting code and design reviews, establishing technical standards, optimizing software and 3D assets for target hardware, managing Agile/Scrum development activities, and coordinating among customers, product owners, artists, programmers, and other stakeholders. Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Evaluation of Education: Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.
