You will serve as a GG-2210-13 IT Specialist (NETWORK/SYSADMIN) at the HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER in Suitland, MD. As a Senior System Administrator in the Telecommunications Services Division, you will perform specialized and technical information technology (IT) services and responsibilities.

Major duties

  • You will serve as a Senior System Administrator, capturing operational requirements from mission stakeholders and translating them into technical solutions across enterprise collaboration, messaging, database, and storage platforms.
  • You will coordinate and liaise with program/project managers, systems engineers, developers, and information system security personnel to provide comprehensive IT life-cycle support from architecture planning through operational sustainment.
  • You will plan and execute complex engineering assignments to install, configure, patch, migrate, and maintain high-availability Microsoft Exchange messaging systems and enterprise SharePoint farm environments across multi-network security enclaves.
  • You will administer, tune, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances supporting critical intelligence systems, while managing enterprise storage infrastructure to guarantee high data availability, redundancy, and capacity planning.
  • You will diagnose, analyze, and resolve escalated tier-3 hardware, software, and network services issues impacting Exchange, SharePoint, SQL databases, and storage subsystems, implementing root-cause remedies and disaster recovery protocols.
  • You will engineer solutions for seamless interoperability and integration across hybrid IT environments, identity and access management directories (Active Directory), and DoD public key infrastructure, ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
  • You will conduct stakeholder interviews and workflow assessments to define functional and non-functional requirements for next-generation system upgrades, storage tiering, data migration, and enterprise software deployments.

Qualifications

This position requires one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GG/GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Plan and execute complex technical assignments across enterprise IT systems and communications infrastructure, including deployment, sustainment, and lifecycle management of multi-tier computing and storage platforms, data workflows, and transmission integrity. Diagnose, analyze, and resolve enterprise system incidents involving hardware, software, and Windows server/storage infrastructure; optimize data transfers across network backbones; and engineer solutions to complex interoperability and integration challenges. Provide advanced technical assistance and root-cause troubleshooting to system users while conducting interviews, assessments, and workflow analyses to define technical requirements for new or modernized IT systems, services, and hardware. Liaise and coordinate with external stakeholders to align enterprise architectures, security compliance, infrastructure roadmaps, and mission-critical IT planning.
