SECURITY SPECIALIST

Major duties

• You will conduct surveys and analyses to identify how critical and vulnerable facilities or sites are and threats against them.
• You will collect information, interview workers, observe physical conditions and related activities concerned with violations and compromises.
• You will determine eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information and grant personnel security clearances and/ or accesses in the presence of minor derogatory information.
• You will be responsible for all matters pertaining to force protection, the Physical Security and Loss Prevention Program.
• You will be concerned primarily with the physical protection of installations, facilities, personnel, or other sensitive information and materials, resources or processes against criminal, terrorist, or hostile intelligence activities.
• You will establish and manage progressive programs designed to protect against theft, crime, sabotage, espionage, subversive activity, and malicious destruction.
• You will inspect facilities where sensitive material will be located; ascertain the use to be made of material in the command, employees who need access, and how it should be protected.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 or GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: GS-09 Conducting facility security inspections and on-site audits; providing technical security advice to management; and reviewing investigative files to recommend clearance or access eligibility. GS-11 Managing and evaluating security programs; developing local security policies; and independently investigating, adjudicating, and granting personnel security clearances or access eligibility.
