AIRCRAFT MECHANICAL REPAIR INSPECTOR

You will serve as an AIRCRAFT MECHANICAL REPAIR INSPECTOR in the Production Trades Division, Industrial Execution Department, MRO Production Group of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Major duties

• You will perform inspections, maintenance and repair of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components and assemblies supported by the organization.
• You will disassemble components/systems, troubleshoot, replace, modify, repair, reassemble components/systems and test a variety of systems e.g., hydraulic, oil, fuel, landing gear assemblies and pressurization systems.
• You will perform visual, dimensional, and operational inspections, progressively, at designated stages during the aircraft repairs done by others, such as hydraulics, mechanical, structural and electrical systems.
• You will install, adjust, align, troubleshoot, and perform final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes.
• You will overhaul, repair parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems, environmental control systems, flight control systems, and vent systems.
• You will use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, hand tools, ground support equipment, hydraulic test stands, electric and pneumatic hoisting equipment, etc.
• You will provide guidance to other employees, training and/or mentoring other artisans at the same or lower level.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Inspect and includes performing common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Installing, adjusting, aligning, inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes (i.e., airframe, landing gear, power plant, rotor drive, gear boxes, rotor heads, etc.) during overhaul, repair, and modification; 2) Disassembling components/systems and determining the required repairs, reassemblies, and reinstalls on an aircraft; 3) Overhauling and repairing parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic/pneudraulic systems, environmental control systems, flight control systems, and vent systems; 4) Utilizing a wide variety of precision measuring instruments (i.e., calipers, protractors, micrometers, hand tools, test equipment, etc.); 5) Rigging, function testing, and troubleshooting systems to determine when they are working properly, and determining the extent of adjustment and alignment needed; 6) Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics diagrams to perform assigned aircraft mechanical and inspection duties; and (7) Assisting in providing technical guidance to other employees in support of agency mission and objectives.
