Major duties

This position is within the Facilities Maintenance Division at Carlsbad Caverns National Park and reports directly to the Buildings and Utilities Maintenance Supervisor. At the full performance level (WL-05) the incumbent is responsible for leading, performing oversight, assisting in, and developing work planning for a staff that could range from 1-5 lower graded, permanent full-time WG-3566-05 custodial workers. Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Lead other employees to ensure standards of service are maintained. Assist supervisor in the hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees. Serve as a backup to the supervisor in purchasing supplies and services to support a custodial operation. Monitor supply inventories and coordinate with supervisor to replenish supplies. Clean restrooms, housing, dorm areas, offices, visitor centers, and workshops. Perform minor maintenance, repairs, and service to gas powered blowers and sprayers. Enforce safety standards for front country and backcountry operations.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to Lead or Supervise (SCREEN OUT) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Dexterity and Safety Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Your resume must show that you have assisted in leading a team in custodial services and motor vehicle operations including: Cleaning restrooms, housing, dorm areas, Replacing light bulbs and dispensers, Performing minor maintenance Operating vehicles, handling and transporting supplies and materials. Additionally, your resume must show that you have the background to teach others in tool use related to the custodial trade, techniques and the safe handling and storage of chemicals.
