HEALTHCARE WORKER I. TYPE - SPECIALIZATION IN CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY (M/F)
A healthcare worker I. type performs the following tasks:
- performs all professional tasks within the scope of the relevant organizational unit up to the level and according to the principles of the acquired education,
- prepares offers and implements public health programs,
- cooperates with service users,
- participates in the implementation of health protection (e.g., supervision, analysis, diagnostics, and testing),
- conducts education and assessment of health status and environmental status,
- participates in professional and scientific projects and special research,
- maintains records in electronic and written form,
- maintains records of performed work, prepares weekly, monthly, and annual reports as well as any necessary reports requested by competent services,
- coordinates mentoring in the department, monitors trainees, participates in the education of students and pupils,
- participates in public health scientific research as needed,
- manages health projects of interest to the local population,
- collects material for laboratory and other examinations,
- cooperates with employees of other organizational units,
- charges for services and maintains records of the same,
- writes findings,
- performs other tasks of their workplace by order of the manager.
Based on Art. 25 of the Statute of the Teaching Institute for Public Health of Primorsko-goranska županija, the written approval of the Ministry of Health regarding the acceptance of the proposal for the Plan of specializations and sub-specializations for 2026, CLASS: 131-01/25-01/210, REF NO: 534-10-1/2-26-03 from 30.06.2026, the provisions of the Act on Health Care (NN 100/18, 125/19, 147/20, 119/22, 156/22, 33/23, 36/24, 102/25) and the provisions of the Ordinance on criteria for the admission of specialists (NN 83/15) (hereinafter: the Ordinance), the director of the Teaching Institute for Public Health of Primorsko-goranska županija announces a COMPETITION for referring doctors of medicine to specialization. A Competition is announced for referring doctors of medicine to specialization in:
- clinical microbiology – one (1) specialization;
General conditions that the applicant must meet are:
- healthcare worker with completed integrated undergraduate and graduate study of health orientation
- permit for independent work
Special conditions:
- IT literacy,
- knowledge of one world foreign language,
- permit for independent work
Applicants are required to attach a CV and the following documentation to the application:
- a copy of the diploma from the Faculty of Medicine;
- a copy of the permit for independent work;
- a copy of the transcript of exams passed during studies;
- a copy of the certificate of general grade point average during studies, as well as the duration of studies;
- a copy of awards during studies;
- a copy of the certificate of status of postgraduate doctoral study;
- a list of published works and copies of works;
- a copy of the employment contract if the applicant worked in primary health care;
- a copy of the employment contract if the applicant worked in a hospital health institution;
- an electronic record from the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute not older than 30 days from the date of publication of the competition;
- a copy of the certificate that no proceedings are being conducted against the applicant under item 1 of Article 156 of the Act on Health Care.
In accordance with Directive (EU) 2023/970 on pay transparency, information about the salary is published. The gross salary for the position of "Healthcare worker I. type" ranges from 2,800.00 – 3,300.00 EUR gross. The gross salary is determined by applying the job coefficient and the valid base for salary calculation in public services (155/23), the Act on Salaries in State and Public Services (NN 153/23) and the Labor Act (NN 93/14, 127/17, 98/19, 151/22 and 64/23).
Upon responding to the interview, applicants are obliged to present original documents. Untimely and incomplete applications will not be considered. The competition process and selection of applicants will be carried out in accordance with the rules established by the Ordinance on criteria for the admission of specialists.
Written applications for the competition with other documentation are submitted within 15 days from the date of publication of the competition to the address: Nastavni zavod za javno zdravstvo Primorsko-goranske županije, Krešimirova 52 a, 51 000 Rijeka, with the note: "Natječaj za specijalizacije".
The Teaching Institute for Public Health of Primorsko-goranska županija reserves the right to additional testing in the selection process (e.g., psychological testing). If an applicant does not respond to testing, they will be considered to have withdrawn from the competition. Applicants will be informed of the selection result in accordance with the provisions of the Ordinance on criteria for the admission of specialists.
Persons of both sexes may apply to the competition in accordance with the provisions of the Act on Gender Equality (NN 82/08, 69/17).
In the application for the Competition, the applicant must mandatory state the name of the specialization for which they are applying to the Competition, personal data: name and surname, date and place of birth, residential address, telephone and/or mobile number, e-mail address, and all requested attachments.
By applying to the competition, applicants give consent for their personal data to be processed only within the scope and only for the purpose of conducting the competition, by authorized persons for the conduct of the competition, i.e., they give consent for the collection and processing of their personal data stated in the application for the Competition and submitted documentation, as well as for the publication of notices/lists of applicants/lists of results/decisions on notice boards and the website of the institution.
Applicants are obliged in the application to state a code under which their personal data will be processed and published, otherwise they are obliged to submit in the competition documentation a signed personal statement giving consent that their personal data (name and surname) may be publicly published for the purpose of conducting the competition process.
The Teaching Institute for Public Health of Primorsko-goranska županija processes the submitted data of the applicant in accordance with the provisions of positive regulations governing the protection of personal data.
An applicant/candidate who exercises the right of priority in employment based on special regulations is obliged in the application for the competition to refer to that right and, subject to the submission of appropriate documentation, has priority over other candidates only under equal conditions.

An applicant/candidate who refers to the right of priority in accordance with the provision of Article 9. of the Act on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (NN 157/13, 52/14, 39/18, 32/20), is obliged, in addition to proof of fulfillment of the requested conditions, to attach a decision on the established status of a person with a disability, or some other proof from which the mentioned right is visible.
An applicant/candidate who refers to the right of priority in employment in accordance with the provision of Article 48.f. of the Act on the Protection of Military and Civil War Disabled Persons (NN 33/92, 57/92, 77/92, 27/93, 58/93, 2/94, 76/94, 108/95, 108/96, 82/01, 103/03, 148/13, 98/19), is obliged, in addition to proof of fulfillment of the requested conditions, to attach a decision or certificate from which the mentioned right is visible.
The Teaching Institute for Public Health of Primorsko-goranska županija reserves the right not to make a decision on selection or to cancel the competition and the selection decision without the obligation to explain its decision and without any responsibility towards the candidates.
