Associate/Full Professor (Tenured) in Linguistics and Multilingual Studies

LMS is part of the School of Humanities (SoH), within NTU Singapore’s College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CoHASS), where students and scholars collaborate across fields from philosophy to design to understand how people in Asia and beyond act in, shape, and make sense of a technological world. CoHASS aims to be Asia’s leading centre for innovative, interdisciplinary research and education in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. The Division of Linguistics and Multilingual Studies (LMS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, invites applications for faculty appointments at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (with tenure). We welcome applications from established scholars in any field of linguistics with an outstanding research record. We particularly welcome candidates whose research will strengthen and advance LMS’s distinctive focus on multilingualism in the Asia-Pacific region, including those with expertise in multilingualism, language diversity, and the languages and linguistic ecologies of the region. Candidates working on Southeast Asia are especially encouraged to apply, although outstanding candidates working across a broad range of geographical contexts will be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the intellectual environment and research strategy of LMS, provide intellectual leadership, and develop collaborations within and beyond NTU. LMS offers a vibrant and interdisciplinary environment for the study of language in its structural, social, cognitive, and technological dimensions. Singapore serves as our natural laboratory for research that is grounded in multilingual Asia and globally relevant. LMS is also internationally recognised for its work on multilingualism, language diversity, language contact and change, and the interfaces between language, society, cognition, and technology. Requirements: A PhD in Linguistics or a closely related field.

A strong, internationally recognized research record, evidenced by publications and other scholarly outputs of field- or world-leading quality.

A strong track record of grant acquisition, graduate supervision, and academic leadership.

A demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and teaching excellence.
