SoH is part of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CoHASS), which aims to be Asia’s leading centre for innovative, interdisciplinary Humanities, Arts and Social Science research and practice. SoH is developing a new Institute for AI Ethics in collaboration with the College of Computing and Data Science, and the successful candidate could be appointed co-director of this Institute and could be cross-appointed with the College of Computing and Data Science. The Department of Philosophy at NTU Singapore invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Philosophy. We seek an intellectually ambitious scholar who specializes in the Philosophy of AI or related fields. The NTU Philosophy Department offers a Major and Minor in Philosophy. It is a postgraduate degree programme, with both MA and PhD students, and our degree programmes have a strong record of job placement. NTU philosophy faculty have particular strengths in ethics, Asian and comparative philosophy, and philosophy of science. Inaddition, we are starting a new MA Programme in AI Ethics and Society, which will offer a postgraduate degree anchored in the humanities, dedicated to the study of ethical, societal, and governance dimensions of AI. Key responsibilities Research Profile Applicants should demonstrate a strong and original research agenda in philosophy of AI. Areas of interest may include (but are not limited to): ·      AI ethics ·      AI and society ·      AI and philosophy of mind ·      AI and philosophy of science ·      AI and philosophy of technology ·      AI approaches to digital humanities Teaching and Supervision The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Philosophy and for the MA in AI Ethics and Society. The candidate will supervise postgraduate research and contribute actively to mentoring students working in Philosophy and interdisciplinary research, especially relating to ethical, societal, and governance dimensions of AI. The successful candidate may be appointed Director of the MA in AI Ethics and Society.
