As a Product & Trade Compliance Manager, you will ensure that our products are correctly labeled, classified, and legally compliant for the European and US markets. You will be responsible for relevant product and trade compliance topics and coordinate customs clearance together with our external Customs Brokers and agency partners.
In doing so, you will work closely with Buying, Product, and Supply Chain, identify compliance risks early, and ensure that our products reach our markets reliably and in accordance with regulations.
YOUR IMPACT
- Responsibility for product and packaging compliance for the EU and US markets
- Ensuring that packaging, boxes, polybags, and product labels meet relevant EU requirements, especially the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)
- Ensuring US requirements are met, especially Country-of-Origin Marking, Textile Fiber Content, and Care Labeling
- Independent examination and interpretation of relevant EU and US legislation as well as proactive identification of compliance risks
- Responsibility for complete and compliant documentation, including Technical Files and Compliance Records
- Reviewing products, packaging, and labeling proofs before production release
- Determining and validating correct HS/TARIC classification for the EU as well as HTS classification for the USA
- Monitoring classification risks across the entire product portfolio
- Supporting the optimization of customs and Landed Costs together with Purchasing
- Internal interface for our external Customs Brokers and agency partners in the EU and the USA
- Preparation and review of relevant documents such as Commercial Invoices, classifications, and proofs of origin
- Coordination of customs clearance with our external partners
- Ensuring correct and efficient cooperation with our Customs Brokers
- Understanding of relevant customs processes, including ATLAS in Germany, CBP Entry Processes in the USA, as well as Direct and Indirect Representation
WHY YOU FIT WITH US
- Demonstrable experience in the field of Product Compliance, Trade Compliance, or a comparable regulatory environment
- Sound knowledge of EU product safety and packaging legislation, especially GPSR
- Good knowledge of relevant US requirements, especially Country-of-Origin Marking and Textile Labeling
- Experience with HS/TARIC or HTS Product Classification
- Confident handling of regulatory texts and the ability to independently interpret and apply legal requirements
- Experience working with Buying, Product, Supply Chain, and external partners
- Very structured and detail-oriented way of working
- Strong sense of responsibility and the ability to identify potential compliance risks early
- Experience with customs clearance processes or working with Customs Brokers is a plus
- Experience in the field of Apparel, Textiles, or Consumer Goods Import Compliance is a plus
- Knowledge in the area of Direct and Indirect Customs Representation is a plus
- Very good written and spoken English skills, German is a plus
