Graduate Decision Analytics Analyst
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional numerical graduate to join a highly commercial, analytically driven business function, specialising in Decision Analytics and Credit Risk Modelling.
The role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in statistical modelling, predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making, supporting the development and optimisation of credit risk strategies.
We are looking for a graduate with strong numerical aptitude, excellent analytical reasoning and a genuine interest in applying mathematical and statistical techniques to real-world commercial challenges.
Suitable candidates will have recently graduated in Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, Economics or a closely related quantitative discipline. Previous experience gained through an industrial placement or graduate-level analytical role would be advantageous, although not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply statistical modelling and advanced analytical techniques to support credit risk decision-making, strategy development and optimisation.
- Develop, test and refine predictive models to assess customer risk, behaviour and profitability.
- Utilise data mining, statistical analysis and mathematical modelling to identify trends, patterns and opportunities within large datasets.
- Support the development and monitoring of credit risk scorecards and decision models.
- Undertake scenario analysis and modelling to assess the potential impact of changes to credit risk strategies and lending decisions.
- Analyse model performance, identify areas for improvement and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of decision analytics frameworks.
- Produce analytical reporting and management information to support commercial and risk-based decision-making.
- Communicate complex statistical findings and analytical insights to non-technical stakeholders, translating analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.
Candidate Requirements
- A 2:1 degree or above in Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, Economics or a closely related quantitative discipline, ideally from a leading university.
- A relevant MSc qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Strong numerical aptitude, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- An understanding of statistical modelling techniques, particularly linear and logistic regression.
- Knowledge of predictive modelling, scorecard development and statistical model performance measures such as Gini, KS statistics, R-squared and population stability would be advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Strong Excel skills, including data manipulation, interrogation and analytical reporting.
- Exposure to analytical tools such as Python, R, SAS, SPSS or VBA would be beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain analytical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A proactive, inquisitive approach, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
