Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

Kilmarnock MRD Recruitment is working on behalf of an established industrial manufacturing business in Kilmarnock to recruit an mechanical Maintenance fitter/mechanical engineer.

Salary: £19.52 per hour (c£38,000 basic) Shift premiums: 40% back shift / 33.3% other shifts, taking earnings to approximately £43,000-£44,000 depending on shift pattern.

The role:

• Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance
• Breakdown fault-finding and repair
• Maintenance and improvement projects
• Working within a continuous-process manufacturing environment
• Equipment including compressed air systems, furnaces, heating systems, rolling mills, gearboxes, motors and pumps
• Use of CMMS systems
• Permit to Work
• Supporting 5S, Lean and Kaizen initiatives

We're looking for:

• Time-served Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Engineer
• Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
• Strong industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience
• Experience in continuous-process environments would be advantageous
• Ability to interpret hydraulic and pneumatic drawings
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills

Desirable experience:

• Machining / turning
• Welding / brazing
• IPAF
• LOTO
• Rigging and slinging
• FLT
• Gas
• Lean / 5S / Kaizen
