Sales Manager (Campus & Startup Programs) (f/m/d)
About the company
MotionLab.Berlin is Germany's official Deep Tech Hub and one of Europe's leading hardtech innovation platforms. We support startups, SMEs, and industry leaders in developing and commercialising physical technologies — from first prototype to scale-up.
With 110+ companies and 8 labs on 5,500 m² in Berlin-Alt-Treptow, and ringberlin as our next campus, we are building a bridge from lab to market for the next generation of climate tech, robotics, mobility, and deep tech ventures.
Your tasks
The Purpose of This Role As Sales Manager, you will build and drive our commercial engine with an immediate focus on hands-on sales execution and deal-closing. Working directly alongside the Co-Founder & Managing Director, you’ll build and run the sales funnels across all core products. Once the baseline is set, you will expand into strategic planning and process architecture to scale the revenue engine.
What You Own You expand your scope step by step. In the first six months you drive Campus and Tech Talent sales; once that foundation is strong, Event Space sales and the sales foundation follow.
1. Campus Sales (MakerGarages, Offices & Memberships)
- End-to-end startup sales funnel for MakerGarages and Offices across campuses.
- Membership sales to creatives, students, and early-stage startups (online and on-site).
- Lead qualification, campus tours, proposal generation, negotiation, and deal closing.
- Pipeline cleanliness and CRM documentation.
- Smooth member onboarding and handovers to Campus & Community teams.
2. Tech Talent Program Sales (Tech Challenges for SMEs)
- Proactive outreach and target identification of SMEs / Mittelstand and innovation units in the DACH region (primarily Germany).
- The full B2B sales cycle: outreach, discovery, scoping, proposal, negotiation, and closing.
- Relationship management to convert initial projects into long-term, recurring partnerships.
3. Event Space Sales Strategy & Execution
- Proactive target identification and outreach to potential event clients aligned with our strategic goals.
- Lead conversion and repeat business strategies in collaboration with the Events & Marketing teams.
- Strategic positioning, pricing, and packaging for event spaces, in close collaboration with the Events Manager.
4. Sales Foundation & Strategy
- Setup, optimization, and reporting for sales processes and CRM systems.
- Development of core sales collateral and playbooks (templates, scripts, pitch decks).
- Direct feedback loops with Product, Campus, and Program teams to refine product offerings.
- Groundwork and team-building structures to scale the sales department as the business expands.
- Drive sales at Germany’s Deep Tech Hub: You come in as our first sales hire and close deals from week one, working directly with our Managing Director. Three products with real demand and a leadership team that works alongside you.
- Shape how we sell: We already generate seven-figure revenue; our funnels, pricing and sales collateral are still young. You develop them with us, test what works with real customers and keep what does.
- Sell what you can touch: Your customers build sensors, drones, robots and climate tech on our campuses. You walk them through the labs instead of pitching slides, and you see the startups you signed grow next door.
- Short decision paths, high visibility: You work closely with leadership, and your output directly shapes the success of our startups and corporate partners.
- A culture that is honest, learning-oriented, and community-driven: We celebrate wins, discuss failures openly, and treat feedback as a tool.
Requirements
This role is designed for someone with meaningful work experience, who now wants to take real ownership and build something that matters.
Non-Negotiable
- Several years of experience (ideally 2–5+ years) in Sales, e.g. in startups, coworking, or B2B services.
- Fluent German (C1+) – you are confident speaking with SMEs and non-startup stakeholders.
- Very good English – our startup ecosystem and community are international.
- Proven track record of owning the full sales cycle: from cold outreach / inbound lead, to needs analysis and proposal, to negotiation and closing.
- Ability to explain complex offers clearly and co-create solutions with customers.
- Comfortable being the first sales person: you don’t wait for a perfect setup – you build it.
- Strategic enough to think about positioning and pricing, and hands-on enough to pick up the phone, follow up and close deals yourself.
- Motivated more by ownership, impact and learning than by a big corporate package.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience working in or closely with the startup ecosystem (ideally Berlin or Germany-wide), plus a network you can activate.
What we offer
- Base salary: €55,000–€63,000, depending on experience
- Variable: €22,000 at 100 % target achievement, tied to new revenue across Campus, Tech Talent and Events; uncapped above target
- On-target earnings: €77,000–€85,000
