Recovery Worker - Chelmsford Location: Chelmsford, Essex Pay: £18.00 per hour Contract: Temporary, 3 months Start: ASAP About the Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Recovery Worker to join a specialist substance misuse service in Chelmsford on a 3-month temporary assignment , with an immediate start available This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Recovery Worker with experience across drug and alcohol services to take on a varied caseload and provide structured, recovery-focused interventions to individuals with a range of substance misuse needs You will work with a mixed caseload of opiate, non-opiate and alcohol clients , providing person-centred support to help individuals reduce substance-related harm, engage with treatment and make positive steps towards sustained recovery The role will also involve supporting individuals involved with the criminal justice system , including clients subject to Alcohol Treatment Requirements (ATR) and Drug Rehabilitation Requirements (DRR) Key Responsibilities Manage an allocated mixed caseload of opiate, non-opiate and alcohol clients
Complete assessments and develop personalised recovery and support plans
Deliver structured, recovery-focused interventions tailored to individual needs
Support service users to identify recovery goals and work towards sustainable positive outcomes
Provide one-to-one interventions around substance use, relapse prevention, harm reduction and recovery
Monitor progress throughout treatment and review support plans as required
Support clients to engage effectively with treatment and wider recovery services
Work with individuals subject to ATR and DRR requirements, supporting compliance and positive engagement
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with service requirements
Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding, risk and vulnerability concerns
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, criminal justice services and other partner agencies
Promote a non-judgemental, person-centred approach to recovery
Contribute to effective partnership working and the overall delivery of the service
What We're Looking For Previous experience working within substance misuse, drug and alcohol or recovery services
Proven experience managing an allocated caseload independently
Experience working with clients across both drug and alcohol presentations
Strong understanding of recovery-focused interventions and treatment approaches
Experience completing assessments, support plans and risk assessments
Knowledge of harm reduction, relapse prevention and safeguarding
Ability to work confidently with individuals experiencing complex or multiple needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organisation and case management skills
Ability to maintain accurate and timely case records
A compassionate, resilient and non-judgemental approach
Experience working with criminal justice clients, ATR or DRR requirements is desirable
The Ideal Candidate You will be an experienced Recovery Worker who is confident managing a varied caseload and delivering effective interventions across both drug and alcohol services You will be comfortable working independently while also contributing to a wider multidisciplinary team, with the ability to build trusting relationships with people who may face complex challenges or barriers to recovery Experience of working with criminal justice clients will be particularly beneficial, but the key requirement is a strong background in substance misuse recovery work and caseload management Why Apply? £18.00 per hour
