Director, Procurement

The Job: Momentum Financial Services Group is seeking an experienced Director, Procurement to lead the execution and continued development of our enterprise procurement and vendor management function. Reporting to the VP, Procurement , this role will provide strategic and operational leadership across procurement strategy, category planning, strategic sourcing, complex commercial negotiations, supplier governance, vendor performance and procurement operations .

You’ll work closely with senior business leaders and partners across Legal, Finance, Information Security, Risk and Operations to translate business needs and spend insights into actionable sourcing strategies, measurable savings, stronger supplier performance and effective contract outcomes. You’ll also provide leadership, coaching and prioritization to Procurement team members while helping mature procurement practices and capabilities across the organization.

What You'll Do

Develop and execute annual procurement plans, category strategies, sourcing pipelines and savings initiatives aligned with business and financial priorities.

Use spend, market, supplier and demand analysis to identify opportunities for cost optimization, supplier consolidation, competitive sourcing and contract improvement .

Establish sourcing and negotiation strategies across key categories including IT, SaaS/software, AI, cloud, telecom, hardware, professional services and operational suppliers .

Lead high-value and business-critical sourcing engagements from initial intake and market assessment through competitive sourcing, negotiation, approval and contract execution.

Lead RFIs, RFQs and RFPs , including evaluation criteria, stakeholder scoring, commercial analysis, recommendations and executive business cases.

Lead complex supplier negotiations covering pricing, service levels, liability, risk allocation, implementation commitments, renewal protections and other key commercial and contractual terms .

Partner with Legal, Information Security, Risk, Finance and other control functions to resolve complex contractual and supplier-risk issues.

Oversee contract renewals, amendments, change orders and Statements of Work, ensuring appropriate commercial value, deliverables, acceptance criteria and governance.

Maintain procurement policies, sourcing and contracting playbooks, approval standards and compliance controls.

Support effective supplier onboarding, due diligence, governance and third-party risk management processes.

Lead supplier performance management, including scorecards, service reviews, QBRs, remediation plans, executive escalations and renewal decisions for critical suppliers.

Maintain visibility into contract obligations, upcoming renewals, supplier concentration, service issues and commercial exposures.

Own procurement reporting, dashboards, sourcing pipelines, renewal calendars and spend analytics.

Establish and monitor procurement KPIs including savings, cost avoidance, sourcing activity, cycle time, contract completion, supplier performance and onboarding progress .

Drive procurement transformation and process improvement through automation, workflow redesign, standardized processes and effective use of procurement technology .

Lead, coach and develop Procurement team members, allocate priorities and build capabilities across sourcing, commercial negotiations, analytics and stakeholder management.

Build trusted relationships with senior business leaders and represent Procurement in cross-functional governance and strategic supplier discussions.

What You'll Bring to the Table

Strong strategic sourcing and category management expertise , with the ability to translate business requirements into effective procurement strategies.

Deep experience negotiating complex technology and commercial agreements , particularly across SaaS, cloud, AI, hardware, telecom and professional services.

Strong understanding of supplier governance, vendor performance and third-party risk management within regulated environments.

Demonstrated ability to identify and deliver measurable savings, cost avoidance and commercial value .

Strong commercial judgment with knowledge of contract structures, pricing models, service levels, liability allocation, implementation commitments and supplier remedies.

Advanced analytical and financial capabilities across spend analysis, forecasting, total cost of ownership, benchmarking and executive reporting .

Strong executive communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to provide clear recommendations and navigate competing priorities.

Proven ability to build relationships across Legal, Finance, Information Security, Risk, Technology and business leadership .

A collaborative but appropriately challenging approach to procurement, balancing business enablement with governance, commercial discipline and risk management.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop and prioritize the work of Procurement team members.

Requirements

12+ years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management and/or commercial contracting.

Demonstrated experience leading complex, high-value and business-critical sourcing and negotiation engagements .

At least 5 years of procurement experience within financial services .

Strong experience negotiating technology agreements across SaaS, AI, cloud, hardware, telecom and professional services .

Demonstrated experience developing category strategies, leading competitive sourcing events and preparing executive-level business cases.

Experience managing supplier governance and performance within a regulated environment.

Understanding third-party risk, privacy, information security, regulatory and governance requirements .

Demonstrated people leadership, coaching, work allocation and quality oversight experience.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel .

Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across North American time zones in a remote working environment.

Nice to Haves (Preferred)

Formal people-management experience leading Procurement and/or Strategic Sourcing teams.

Experience within highly regulated financial services organizations.

Experience implementing, optimizing or transforming enterprise procurement processes and operating models.

Experience with CLM, ERP, source-to-contract or procurement platforms such as GEP, Coupa, SAP Ariba or Ivalua.

Experience driving procurement automation, workflow improvements and reporting/dashboard enhancements.

Professional procurement or supply-chain designation such as SCMP, CPSM or equivalent .

Relevant master's degree.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Law or a related discipline .

12+ years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management and/or commercial contracting experience .

Minimum 5 years of procurement experience within financial services .

Significant experience managing complex, enterprise-level supplier negotiations and technology sourcing engagements.

Demonstrated experience providing strategic procurement guidance to senior and executive-level stakeholders .

Relevant master's degree and/or professional procurement designation is considered an asset.
