General Accountant (Startup Portfolio)

Role Overview We are looking for a hands-on General Accountant to manage accounting operations across multiple early-stage startups within our portfolio. Each entity operates independently with its own financials, systems, and requirements — the role requires someone who can own all day-to-day accounting operations across assigned entities, including but not limited to AR, AP, bank reconciliations, COGS, and cash management, and handle the full accounting cycle simultaneously with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations

Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable across entities

Process bank reconciliations and cash management

Handle COGS tracking and invoice processing

Monitor petty cash and expense claims

Entries & Bookkeeping

Record and maintain all accounting transactions accurately

Manage general ledger, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

Ensure correct categorization of invoices across COGS and operating expenses

Maintain organized, audit-ready financial documentation

Reporting

Prepare monthly management accounts per entity (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)

Track startup burn rates and operational spending

Develop variance commentary and financial insights to support management

Assist with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and ad hoc analysis

Compliance & Controls

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies

Coordinate with auditors and tax consultants when needed

Support implementation and improvement of accounting systems and workflows

Assist founders and management with finance-related operational matters

Requirements

Experience

3–5 years hands-on accounting experience

General Accountant, Senior Accountant, or Finance Executive background

Startup, SME, or multi-entity experience preferred

Technical

Strong accounting fundamentals and financial reporting

Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office

Familiarity with accounting and/or ERP systems

Soft Skills

Proactive and self-motivated with a strong ownership mindset

Organized and detail-oriented across multiple priorities

Good communication skills in English

Able to manage multiple companies with minimal supervision
