Finance Manager / Financial Accountant – Charity (Part Time)

Part-Time – 21 hours per week | Remote | Charity Sector

MLC Partners are supporting a fantastic charity in the recruitment of a Part-Time Finance Manager / Financial Accountant to join their team on a remote basis.

This is a broad and hands-on finance position, suited to someone who enjoys combining strong technical accounting with the ability to operate as a strategic finance partner to senior stakeholders. You will take ownership of core financial processes while providing meaningful insight to support planning and decision-making across the organisation.

The Role

• Managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
• Producing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
• Leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Preparing year-end accounts and supporting the external audit process.
• Managing balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow and financial controls.
• Supporting statutory, regulatory and charity-specific financial reporting.
• Partnering with senior leaders and budget holders, providing financial insight and constructive challenge.
• Knowledge working with CharitySORP.
• Translating financial information into clear recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
• Supporting longer-term financial planning, scenario modelling and organisational sustainability.
• Identifying opportunities to strengthen financial processes, controls and reporting.
• Supporting the wider organisation with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be an experienced Finance Manager, Financial Accountant, Management Accountant or Finance Business Partner, ideally with previous experience within a charity or broader public sector organisation.

You will have strong technical accounting skills alongside the ability to operate beyond the numbers. In particular, we are looking for someone who has experience strategically partnering with senior stakeholders, influencing decisions and helping non-finance colleagues understand the financial implications of their plans.

Experience of charity accounting, SORP, restricted/unrestricted funds and year-end audit would be particularly advantageous.
