Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

• Receives work orders and reviews plans or blueprints of projects.
• Estimates materials, man hours and cost requirements.
• Ensures that necessary materials, supplies, equipment, plans, tools, etc., are available.
• Demonstrates proper work methods.
• Inspects work in progress and upon completion.
• Confers with supervisor concerning problems with work assignments or personnel.
• Performs other work as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

• Ability to plan and supervise masonry activities.
• Knowledge of the materials, methods and principles required in the performance of skilled masonry work.
• Knowledge of the use, care, and maintenance of required tools and equipment both specialized and common.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and proper safety precautions.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision.
• Abilityto assign, supervise and inspect the work of others.
• Ability to use and operate the necessary tools and equipment required in the performance of duties.
• Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
• Abilityto express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
