Senop [https://senop.fi/] offers night vision devices designed for demanding operating environments, optronics, and secure communication solutions, as well as demanding system integration services for defense and security sector operators and critical infrastructure organizations.
We belong to the Millog and Patria groups and employ over 150 experts across four locations in Finland.
We are now looking for Senop's Kangasala location
MECHANICAL DESIGNER
We are looking for an experienced mechanical designer to strengthen our product development team for integration products and services. Our integration projects include the manufacturing, testing, and installation of various devices as part of a system platform. System platforms are typically containers or vehicles, and your main task will be design tasks related to Senop's own container system.
In this role, you will design and develop mechanical assemblies where the level of requirement, precision, and reliability is high. You will be responsible for the design of structures from concept to final product manufacturing, testing, and documentation – you will have the opportunity to significantly influence design solutions and product architecture.
You will work daily in close cooperation with, among others, experts in product development, procurement, manufacturing, project management, and sales, so we expect good teamwork skills from you. Additionally, your work includes directing subcontracted design together with the chief designer. You will also work in a customer-facing role in an international environment, so we expect fluent English skills (other language skills are considered an advantage) and experience working in this environment is an advantage. As a person, you are determined, persistent, and goal-oriented.
WOULD YOU BE OUR EXPERT?
We expect strong technical expertise from you:
- Several years of experience in mechanical design and product development, preferably with demanding equipment
- Strong 3D CAD skills (e.g., SolidWorks) and the ability to produce manufacturing-ready structures
- Good understanding of mechanical analyses and modeling, such as structural calculations and thermal analyses
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, and their behavior in various operating conditions
- Good understanding of requirements, configuration, and risk management
- Ability to act independently and take technical responsibility for entire assemblies
- A systematic and documentation-committed work ethic
We expect a suitable university degree in the field of engineering. Success in the role is supported by good knowledge of the defense industry and the defense sector in general. In particular, knowledge of communication and command systems and their system platforms, as well as knowledge of container systems, will be useful in the role. We also consider basic knowledge of MIL-standards as an advantage.
WHAT DO WE OFFER YOU?
At Senop, you will have the support of a professional and committed community as well as a stable and responsible employer. We invest in our employees' well-being, continuous improvement, and modern operating methods. We value your free time, and for example, a hybrid remote work model and flexible working hours enable the balancing of work and leisure. We offer you diverse employee benefits, which include among others:
- Comprehensive occupational healthcare services
- Leisure accident insurance
- Epassi Flex
- Lunch benefit
- All staff are under a performance-based bonus scheme
- Flexible working hours
- Hybrid remote work model
