About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the Department of Pathology in Bethesda, MD. Shift/Duty Hours: Monday - Friday 0730-1600. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major duties

  • Ensures residency program complies with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements.
  • Writes policies and procedures, keeping records on all residents, annual program evaluation, and submitting required data to ACGME in coordination with program leadership.
  • Coordinates resident and medical student rotations with various internal and external agencies such as USUHS, other departments, other military and civilian treatment centers.
  • Coordinates execution and monitoring of contract requests with the Contracting Office.
  • Represents the Residency Program Director at meetings attended by representatives of the MTF and other DoD agencies.
  • Prepares comprehensive after-action reports, to include recommendations to improve coordination, planning, administration and management in coordination with program leadership.
  • Stays updated on ACGME RRC changes to include new or revised requirements.
  • Interprets regulations, policies, guidance and course directives and apply necessary measures to ensure the efficient and effective use of all resources toward maintaining quality program.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining contact and records for all residents and students, both incoming and outgoing; determining budget requirements for travel, contract costs, and necessary equipment; and ensuring that the residency programs are compliant with requirements by reviewing program content. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
